The informed masses: Thomas Jefferson’s delight. What was the man’s vision? Certainly, he did not envision the people of his time in possession of the means. No, I rather think that old Tom pictured a process. He looked to us, the future. Or, to sum up in another man’s words: "What is the best government? That government which teaches the people to govern themselves." Or, according to Abraham Lincoln, "... that government by the people ..." You may note that I do not mention government by public servants. Representation can be stretched but so far. "We the people" is what matters here. We are the informed masses of the day. Further, we are not bound by the institutions of our forefathers. One of the strengths of the constitution is that it gives to the people a definite recourse. If at any time the American people become dissatisfied with the present system of government, they may dissolve said government, and erect the pillars of democracy anew. I think that’s wonderful. But, the life-breath of majority rule is faint. The tell-tale signs of a republic are all about. They encroach from all sides like briars, and in the name of ‘red’ tape, impede the least bit of progress.

Every three seconds, somewhere in the United States, a clique of bureaucrats is smugly sequestered behind closed doors, maniacally mending a world whose only problem is how to be saved from maniacal menders. These are sad statistics. I think somebody should be appointed to mend the bureaucrats. It makes no difference, for if they are not somewhat cracked, a large wound, nevertheless, gapes at us. What they do, it seems to me, smacks of communism (republic). Is it not the style of megalomaniacs to chart the fates of millions from behind closed doors? Think they that "we the people", of all people, are not aware? Personally, I’m fed up! I’m tired of games. I’m tired of pretenders called ‘elected officials’ making a living off of my life, like so many vampires. When I hire a care-taker, I’m looking for someone who does what he’s told. Disappointments are promptly discharged. "We the people" stand at the threshold of a new era. New institutions are called for. No longer do we need ‘representative government’. In these times of fantastic technologies, of communication and computers, new expressions of democratic maturity are called for. "We the people" now have the means to shoulder our own responsibilities.

Now, responsibilities are like roses: they make pretty ornamentations, but we are reminded of thorns. I would rather your hands pick them than mine. So - many arguments may be brought against the new and the bold, but by the same token, many arguments may be brought against our present, infantile stage of democratic system - an infant whose diaper is fouled with the soil of ‘republic’. It has been said, and rightly I think, that if you want something done right, you must do it yourself. It’s high time something was done right around here. Indeed, we have the technology: "we can rebuild her" (Lady Liberty). We can send those money grubbing law makers home to find honest work. We can do the job, ourselves, with computers: ‘bionic democracy’.

I don’t mean to steal God’s Glory: His perfect government will come soon enough, this I believe. But, the duality of God’s work - at the first coming of Jesus Christ, there was a voice crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way..." Before the second coming, it is the responsibility of saints everywhere to put this command into action. As Christians, it is our privilege to seek (rather than merely hope for) the godly principles: judgment, equity, truth. Our job is to actively prepare ‘our little corner of the world’ - and we are preparing for the King. We seek to avert His Holy Wrath by the application, with Hyssop, of faithful obedience above the door of our whole house. We may not sit idly by and watch the government that bears our name perpetrate the works of abomination. Yes, the Lord shall return. In the meantime, we have at hand the technology to insure the effectual mechanism of justice in our land. "Push-Button Democracy’: the technological rebirth of majority rule. It shocks me that so many American Christians have overlooked the greatest of all vetoes: their own voice over their own government. Any unsatisfactory decision may be re-drafted, re-crafted, by the voting of citizens to override the bad choices of elected representatives. I certainly hope that, on this point, I am not misunderstood: there is a fine line here. The aim is not strife; nor should there be bands of roaming do-gooders seeking to inject emotionally charged ‘opinions’ into the realms of either fact, or law.

I fully believe that there is no current power that is able to circumvent the finality of God’s written word. His Truth shall stand unhindered. It is man alone that has turned down the wrong road; it is up to man to make the U-turn; to turn back, and find the better path. Man cannot impede the will of God: God is so perfectly complete that He can include any variance into His plan and still come out purely victorious - that is why He never asked us for cleverness, but rather for faith. It is a fine line: though we are commanded unto subjection under the law, yet we sin by letting evil breed unchecked and unchallenged. Faith lives in works of obedience.

No, another single thread; same subject matter. There is more, but I may not put it up for view. I wanted feedback, but I may only be taxing the feeble memory spans of my forum neighbors. (Present company not included)

"we the people" can not "form a more perfect union"..period..

union, unity is only of, in , by and through The Great Spirit.

to simple for the "educated" worldly wiseman to comprehend.
and so we have what is known as "politic" and worse yet
"religion" and all the other systems imagined by mankind.

yet for those who have received simplicity and embrace her,

there is Peace, even as war(carnal and spiritual) rages....... francisco

    Rubbish.
We the people are the ONLY THING that makes anything happen outside
    gross physical determanism.
This is validated by the only experience that exists to guide us.
    Human experience.
humans have gone from dirt grubbers to wielders of atoms.
    Reason is cool ..no?

A 'great spirit' is what you add to the equation to justify your preconceptions.
Please admit..that you would be saying nothing without the internet and your computer.
Not products of the great spirit.
    But products of reason.

THE system reality is based on.

sad that you are so overcome by the "brainwashing"(now should that not be
"braindirtying") processes that are the "american way".

yet while there is breath(spirit) there is hope!

as to communing, i know your "mouth" is a product of "education", "media",,etc,,
but primarily of your own imagination.

may you one day experience The Great Spirit so that the "mouth" HE gave you
would be a tool fit and meet for HIS use.

peace, even as war(spiritual and carnal) rages....... francisco

Cool exchange, guys. I would like to add that technology and spirituality can be reconciled in the Holy Ghost, who has authority over all "witty inventions".
