once upon a time i saw a book on how to make patterns from exsitsting clothes. for some reason i didnt get it but now i want a book like that, do you guys have any suggestions?
The only way I know how to make a pattern from an exsisting piece is to take it apart very carefully at each seam.
first thing I thought of was flat pattern drafting look around this search: is this what you need? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=flat+drafting+patterns&btnG=Search also, I can on simple pieces create a pattern from paper by noting hems, seamd and the like and adjusting that.
a sewing teacher in nyc recently released a book called 'rip it' about this topic. you can find it at www.sewfastseweasy.com .
if you go to your local library and type hippie as the search word is should come up with a book called hippie patterns, i think.. or something like that. i'll find it later and let you know.
