Honestly not a big fan of them. Holding hands and quick/light kisses are ok, but grabbing asses/boobs or making out in public is not my cup of tea.

I don't like watching others do it, I doubt others would want to watch me do it.

To add to that, it's sort of a sign of respect to me, to not grab my ass in public with people watching. I like my private life private, I don't need to flaunt my love/affection to others because my partner and I know how I feel

I can totally see what ihmurria's saying, and I respect that.

That said, I persoanlly tend to advocate public displays of affection for the following reasons:

    - Many people express hate(which is a NEGATIVE element in my opinion) toward a certain individual or a certain group of people, and this seems to be frowned upon less than when two people express love(which is a POSITIVE element in my opinion) openly. I believe this should be the other way around.

    - I believe we don't express love nearly as much as we need to in our society. It seems to me that there is always something getting in the way of love from being expressed openly, whether it is for the moral reasons, religious reasons, or the reasons based on societal conditioning. As it is, we are generally encouraged to restrain ourselves when we are overcome with the feeling of love and/or appreciation for another person while in public. I believe public display of affection will help decrease the level of shame and guilt toward love and affection society otherwise plants in our brains.

    - Based on what I've said above, children will grow up in an environment where love, appreciation, and affection are not only tolerated, but encouraged. Instead of expressing hate toward others, they will learn to accept others and to love and appreciate others. There have also been some studies regarding the displays of affection between parents, and how a child whose parents are very affectionate in their home tends to grow up to be a very sound individual. On the other hand, a child whose parents don't show many signs of affection toward each other has a tendency to become depressed, violent, prone to physical illness, and/or socially dysfunctional. I wish I'd kept the URL for the website I'd read regarding this. I've also watched a TV program featuring these studies.

At any rate, I personally believe PDA is far less troublesome than various displays of hatred and violence.

    Just my opinion...

I find it highly amusing that someone is looked down upon more for PDA than for PDH.

I like PDA. I think if I'm out with my boyfriend and I want to squeeze his butt or kiss his neck or something, I should be able to. I don't do it to be offensive to anyone....but, he's mine and he's there and if I want to show my affection for him, I will.

There are certain social climates where this kind of stuff can be witnessed and, yes, it's rather sad, if you ask me.

I agree with bare, At, and moon flower. Make love not war. We can watch people kill each other for hours on TV, but as soon as something gets a little sexy/romantic-omg, the world's gonna end. How ridiculous. No wonder there's so much war and hate in the world-it's acceptable, and love isn't. That my 3 1/2 cents worth.

Depends on how much PDA. I'm not averse to hugs, affectionate kisses, that sort of stuff. However, once it goes from a hello/goodbye/i love you kiss into really making out, that's not something I want to see publicly. Be tasteful and I'm cool by it. Knowing people are happy together is cool... receiving a live demonstration of dry sex is not.

I think a little affection is alright. Sticking your tongue down your partner's throat while fondling their boobs or package is inappropriate, in my opinion. But otherwise, I find it sweet when a couple has such an attraction to eachother that they can't wait until they get alone. As long as they're not holding up the line at the coffee shoppe, I don't see a problem.

In the People's Democratic and Amorous Republic of Chariseastan, everyone is required to engage in Public Displays of Affection, or be expelled from The Republic.

    Thank you for your cooperation!

lastnight i fingered my girlfriend outside a pizza shop at 1am in the morn. I was drunk, but every time i think about it i get a little smile. I think it all comes down to how you were raised and how many beer you have in ur stomache
