real hip hop motivates me.. it has a beat.. it's positive but real and yeah, im a white girl.

 

there's some good stuff. sure, there's a lot of garbage, too. but what do i care? i'll listen to the good stuff instead. seems kinda simple to me.

well, I do listen to my share of rap, but its usually more underground stuff you hear on college radio. alot of these rappers "rap" about social and political issues. the thing I hate about rap is the mainstream stuff you hear on radio ad-nauseum. you can only take so much of the same songs....... and most of that mainstream rap is just pretentious bullshit about how rich they are. its just horrible.

 

the bad stuff tends to outweigh the good stuff though. I mean, muchmusic and other music stations... of all the rap that they have ever played, I think I've heard maybe a dozen songs tops that were decent, let alone good. Not saying good stuff ain't out there, it's just not presented as much as the bad stuff.

Pop and, well, most music has this problem too, not just rap. I think that rap just has the worst case of this situation, which is why everyone is so grumpy about it.

nah, not what i meant. sorry for the misunderstaning..however if you will read the thread maybe you wil know what i meant.

 

I listen to old school hip hop: run dmc, grand master flash, empd, de la soul, tribe, public enemy, nas, digital underground, nwa, bid daddy kane, ect...People make fun of me for most of those cos they say its just nursery rhymes...Oh well, it sure as hell beats MTV and mainstream rap.

 

some of us have that rap pushed on us. some of us dont have an option to listen to other things, when most of the people around them need to listen to that bullshit mainstream rap. there is this one song by usher, lil john and ludacris that they play constantly that annoys the fuckin crap out of me. and one time I voiced my opinion about it, I got yelled at by another coworker, and he threw shit at me. I pretty much made my disgust known about how tired I am of the same songs being played over and over within hours. this song is played on the hour, every hour it seems........ and then they gotta turn the radio up and say its their jam, every fuckin time. when I told the nazi dishwasher about that incident, he told me thats because the guy is jewish. I just laughed. lol.
