So i was wondering, do most of u artists on this site use phycoactives or phycadelics (or any other mind opening/altering substance) to create your art or do u draw them normally (not high), just use good ole inspiration or do u channel the drawing from a spirit (i know it sounds weird but try it). Feel free to share anything you do when you draw, i want to learn what kind of environment people use also. Im gonna really start to experiment with my art. Thanks everyone!

I've never created art on drugs though I've always wanted to.. But some things I see when I trip influence my art.

I theorize that the same centers are stimulated by creating that are created by psychedelics. (not pot/booze) My "ymmv" on this is I paint live and live only, always to music which can be recorded but 98 percent performance (rehersals are interesting but have too many starts and stops.), always with a potential audience. This is also a built-in time control, so I can't agonize over every stroke. I don't have time.

I know lots of what comes out on the canvas is from those visits, for me and for my sweetie, and they can look similar on different pieces. Our styles are different, but something will have a common root at the early stages of a piece. Psychonauts seem to love our stuff and recognize places and creatures in them.

There is a thing called ‘super ego’. In theory… It is created by your surroundings… On psychoactive substance your brain should be free of external influences (society and things)… Your personality should be stronger…
But I prefer to get rid of norms that come from my surroundings by remaining immature and childish… This is healthier…

I usually draw sober, but I've drawn things high, on shrooms and on LSD before. I scanned the LSD piece, maybe I should post it..

Maybe everyone can post their under influence pieces in this topic?
Here's mine (3 or 4 hours into an LSD trip):

I've done drawings everytime I've done mushrooms.

I'd love to scan some in but unfortunately the "mushroom doodle book" accidentally got badly burned.

Drugs have definately inspired my artwork.
