me and my friend where coming home and we pulled into my driveway and noticed a sound on the radio which was turned off at the time. we knew that we must have past some kind of point of radio wave so he backed up a bit. we where able to pick up some kind of underground radio station by moving our arms in certain areas of his jeep. it was pretty trippy. we picked up some cool punk songs and some rock songs, but ive never heard these songs before, to bad...

Sounds like you stumbled across a pirate-radio station...

I didn't think many of those were still around... I know the FCC has been cracking down like hell.

Yeah I used to pick up on a sort punk/indie/rock pirate-radio when I was younger and lived in Syracuse.

They only would broadcast from like 1:30 - 3:30 every night, and it was definitely run out of basement technology, because outside my house (even in the car) I couldn't pick up the station. I was a pretty frequent listener, and that got me started on my passion for independent shit.

One night, I went to tune in, and nothing. A couple weeks later, still nothing. Never was on again, I assume they got busted or gave it up...

But we need more pirate-radio, that shit is pretty cool.
