piercings and religion

so i got a piercing last week and was wondering what the general consensus among my fellow christians is regarding piercings as a whole.

 

There is no religious consensus about piercings in christianity. All opinions about them are personal or from a consensus that is more connected to the local tradition/culture. So if there weren't piercings at all 30 years ago for instance the more conservative people (not in the political sense ) might say piercings are unwanted in our community and the more progressive people would be more like it's your nose, do what you like etc.

 

Well there is that jesus was said to have been pierced, by a spear. Decorative piercing seems innocent by comparison.

 

There is a name for it. Self-mutilation. Yeah, go and rationalize that.

I think there's a subtile difference between self mutlilation and getting a piercing.
