I work in a Drs surgery and at the moment there's no one here but me cos the Dr travels around the island for a significant portion of the week. I stay here to answer the phones and make more appointments... AAAAAND... there's a big giant tub of liquid nitrogen with a ladle. I've already frozen a pencil, a screwed up tissue, a piece of doughnut and a normal piece of paper.... What other things, commonly found in a Dr's office, should I freeze? Any suggestions welcome. (yes, I'm THAT bored)
omg I just dripped some ribena (like 10 ml) into a small amount of liquic nitrogen and then fished out the result afterwards... it's all hard, a light mauve pink and completely opaque. awesome. Its on a plate now. I wonder if it'll melt back to normal ribena... They look like moon rocks did in kids books and cartoons.
hahaha very funny, The ribena melted really slowly. First off it got massive ice crystals on it from the water in the AIR freezing around it. And then slowly melted and darkened until it looked like an iceblock (ice lollie? Popsicle? What do you foreigners call them?) and then I ate it and it tasted good. I'm gonna go freeze a rubber band now and see if it breaks.
OK I did a rubber band and some hand cream. hand cream is boring - just goes opaque instead of semi-opaque, texture changes to being harder and it doesn't change shape at all... Now a rubber band is AWESOME! It went all hard and at weird angles cos it was bent in the ladle. Then when I hauled it out and bent it between my fingers, it resisted for about 2 seconds and then broke and a bit of it went SPANG! and flew across the room
Ok, latex glove (blown up and thumb dipped in) Glove was kinda boring... hardened up (Phwoarr!!1) and then melted quickly. It deflated my glove though which was odd.
And now ink: Ink looks like little perfectly round spheres of obsidian... Sometimes the sphere's stick together and make a chain. they look like artists impressions of atoms but without the cool colours and are instea shiny black. but as it melts and gets slightly softer, I can stick a pencil point into it and it feels almost like a paste.
And liquid paper (twink, tipex, whatever you call it) which is also not exciting. It hardens into round white balls, akin to those styrofoam balls in bean bags but it's cold and will melt into white paint stuff... Hah. this is awesome.
OMG I JUST HAD A THOUGHT! Imagine what sperm would be like... haha that would be so cool. Any volunteers to come visit me at work?
