Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year, except the centuries (div. by 100), unless the year is also divisible by 400, then it is still a leap year.
How and why they calculated that formula exactly like that, I don't know, but that's how you'll know whether it's a leap year or not.

because the earth revolves around the sun in 365 and 1/4 days. so every 4 years, you will be behind by one day, so you have to compensate for that...... so every 4th year, you have a feb 29th.

what does that mean. No I just wanted an extra day-that's all. alright so was anyone born on feb 29th. Do you only celebrate your birthday every 4 years.

isn't it traditional that in a leap year girls ask guys to get hitched, instead of the other way around? damn! i'm gonna miss those proposals - they are so cute and touching ;)

people born on 2/29 typically celebrate on 3/1. i knew some twins born on 2/29. every leap year they'd have an extra special blow-out birthday party.

Well yes, d'uh, I got that far :p I meant the detailed thing about no leap year on the centuries, except for every 4th one... that must've taken some calculation to adjust it like that... :)
