poi spinners out there?

jus wonderin who here spins at all, and how long you been at it. im pretty sure someone does lol.

 

I'm into fire spinning, couldn't live without it. I mainly do double and contact staff, but poi is also a favourite. Been playing staff for 7 or 8 years (started quite early), and poi for 1 or 2 years. What do you play with?

i've only just started spinnin a pair of socks last weekend and its by far one of the most rewarding things i've done for a hobby and def am gonna b doin it for years to come. music is a pretty big part of my life and this jus lets me flow with the sounds

 

I've been playing with devil stix since I was 10ish and I got a set of fire devil stix a year ago. I want to try that contact staff thing, it looks fairly similar.

 

I spin normal poi and LED poi, I love them sooo much!

 

Anyone got any pictures or vids?

 

I'm kinda upset because I broke one of these on acid

 

LED makes such great pictures. I can imagine how painfull breaking one could be. I broke one of my firestafs yesterday, it sucks.
I've been trying to get an LED staff, but it's impossible to find here.

 

so i just started spinnin sock like a week ago and im stuck on the 5 beat weave. just wonderin if this was hard for ne1 else and any tips would b appreciated

Use to be into spinning LED lights, but that was back in the day when I did a lot of mushies and acid (the occasional MDMA too...). One of my good friends is way into fire staff poi and is pretty good, burnt himself real bad once on the face though. It's lots of fun, amazing with music....playing (guitar) while others poi dance is real fun too. It's like dancing with another entity, that comes out from within you to join in the fun.

 

This reminds me that I haven't spun or burned in a while. I should probably get around to that before the weather turns.

 

Does anyone know of any interesting jugglin/circus schools in America?

 

Ive been spinning LED poi for about 8 months or so now. It's addictive. I don't know about everyone else though but i got more bruises than ever before since i started. I used to fill my sock poi with juggling balls for a while to ease the pain a bit, but i'm gettin more confident with the LED's now....althou still cant get the hang of overhead tricks, get concussion easier that way :S

 

haha i just banged myself in the eye a couple minutes ago lol hurts like a bastard!
def gotta say learnin this art can b a painful process!

 

spin fire its a lot more fun.....but get some burn cream
