I was just bringing up this subject on my blog now. How the police in the past have tried to take the driver's licenses away from good drivers, because they think their above the law. But I was reading an article about it a while back dating to around 1980. I'll see if maybe I can find it later. This man who the police officer thought was mentally handicapped hit a little boy pedestrian. But all the onlookers agreed it wasn't his fault. The little boy ran into oncoming traffic, although he did fracture his skull. But the arriving officer assumed that the man must be mentally handicapped and made it his mission to take away his license. He had him retested for a license. Those retestings are so hard, probably many police would fail them.

I was also reading in that same article or maybe another something interesting. Sometimes when mentally handicapped people were involved in crashes that were clearly the other person's fault, the police and other driver would conspire together. So he wouldn't have to pay the extra insurance costs for being liable for the accident. They'd make a game of it, because some people with mental handicaps and other issues miss subtle social cues. And they don't realize when they are being deceived. Especially by the police, of all people.

But it was the police's dirty little secret for a while. And they may be still doing it. They were doing to me up to at least 2013. They think certain groups like the mentally handicapped shouldn't be driving. And even if they had a valid license and a good record, they'd use their authority as police to take away their licenses. And that man from 1980 actually wasn't mentally handicapped at all. He was actually at the border. But he had his legal status changed after that to be above the border. So people couldn't take away his rights so easily like that. But his case was interesting too. He had a funny way of walking, also due to Cerebral Palsy and some other neurological problems.

Because in this country police sometimes think they are medical experts. In addition to being judge, jury and executioner.
