I love this hair style! Does anyone have any good tips on making the perfect pompadour? I like making them on myself, but i can't stand the fact that sometimes they come out good, and sometimes they come out really deformed. I usually just use hairspray and gel.
am i supposed to know what this is? i guess living on this island has me sheltered from the real world.. anyone got a pic of one?
I thought a pompadour was that old hairstyle men wore in the 50's....ya know, when they would grease their hair then.....ummmm I cannot describe it. It was classic back then, kinda puffed up on top,a little similar to what Conan O'Brien does with his hair lol. I thought that was a pompadour but maybe I'm wrong. I usually am
I did a search.... pom·pa·dour ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pmp-dôr, -dr) n. 1. A woman's hairstyle formed by sweeping the hair straight up from the forehead into a high, turned-back roll. 2. A man's hairstyle with the hair brushed up from the forehead. So there's two different kinds....I was thinking of the men's version,I would love to see the women's version though...
i'll post a pic soon. Hope it doesn't come out ugly. Yeah, pomps are those hairstyles popular in the '50s. They've made a huge comeback. It's when you push the front part of your hair so it's high and you pin it down with bobby pins. I don't know if i make sense. But i hope you get the picture.
...if its what I think, I can ask my gramma...she used some kinda stick for hers, i think she rollled it up on the stick and then pulled it out. They were kinda thick wooden ones....she rolled it on both sides as I recall.
I never understood the appeal. But don't let me discourage you; I think I just had a bad experience with Hope from Daves of Our Lives. I always find myself mentally pushing down pompadours until I can't look any longer.
I just think Priscilla Presley, circa 1967, rather than Paris Hilton...lol...she sported that pompadour to the extreme, and was beautiful doing it.
I'm a pro at hair and makeup for this particular era, check some of my pics. To make the perfect pompadour: 1.First part your hair into a small triangle starting at the front of your hairline 2. Tie the rest of your hair back into a pony-tail for now 3. Lightly mist hair with medium hold spray, let dry and repeat. Remember don't spray too much, your not trying to go for a hard or wet look. 4. Now take a small toothed comb and start back-combing (or ratting) the backside of your triangle until hair stands up. 5. Take a bore hair brush and lightly smooth out the front 6. Pin back with boobie pins and spray lightly one time. Hope this helps, let me know how it turns out.
I dont think i could do that to my hair.. My hair has never done anything mean to me why should i treat it like that ...
