I don't understand this topic. What good are poppy seeds? Can you actually get high from poppy seeds?
I've heard the seeds themselves also contain other alkaloids which can make some a bit ill, most folks from what I've read just stick to the pod husks and whatnot, leaving the seeds aside for next springs garden.
you can buy them dirt cheap online many sites very common. i am buying some soon its perfectly legal to grow for ornamental uses etc. do not mention consumnation or harvesting ever, when ordering, or ever. or to anyone even to best friends, it will spread then youll be busted, if youre doing something more with them other than the above things., as long as they are the papaver somniferum strain seeds they are the ones to get.,,,,, and you know why..... common on the internet, dirt cheap.... ive never seen pods for sale, but only seeds.. are the turkish ones really that good/more better? plant patches of them in different locations different shades, sun spots, different moisture levels etc as they are picky and will randomly grow better in some spots than in others.. you will want to plant where very few ppl can see.. and not nosey neighbors,, or patrolling officers can see,, but still where sunlight and rain is. do some internet searching about growing opium poppies there are a couple really good videos out there i have come across recently.. have fun!! hmmmm, since we are on this topic already now,,, has anyone bought seed from either of these two online seed shops: ethnobotanicals herbalfire are these secure? herbalfire does not say if the seed is viable.... unlike over at ethno which does claim to have viable seed,, the ethno site seems to me to be way too fancy and overdone to just be selling seed like this and hmm... im just skeptical about it., but the herbal site doesnt say aything about having viable seed..,., so im kinda paranoid or something,, hmm
I couldn't believe the hype i was hearing over poppy pods, so i ordered some online... i ordered them for decorating of course, but changed my mind after i received them in the mail today around noon... got 50 large hen & chickens for 55 dollars, including shipping... finely ground 5 pods up (seeds and all) and followed the directions i encountered on the net to make 2 cups of tea... at first i was disappointed cause i suppose i was expecting a sudden rush like a shot of good H will give... about 30 minutes passed and i'll say, you guys aren't bullshitting... i'll take this over hydrocodone anyday, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper... i wish i'd known about this years ago... great way to spend a day off from work!
by themselves poppy seeds will not get you high,they have just enough opiate in them to raise the old red flags when it comes time for the drug tests! I must say though that the opium poppy really do shine when they are blooming
Just out of curiousity & from an ornamental (and quite "artistic" dried flower arranger's point of view; HOW THE HECK DO YOU KEEP THE PODS & STEMS FROM GROWING MOLD WHILE THEY ARE DRYING.I have tried several different ways and still I am unsuccessful with making my "arrangements" because they mold and (of course,) I wouldn't want my "arrangements" to get anyone sick!:coffee: Any & All advice would be greatly appreciated.
