Possible negative long term effects of taking acid/having bad trip

K, so my friend's friend is pretty sure they're gonna do it... but he still has his doubts...

So, he wants to know what exactly are the possible negative long term effects of trying acid? And what are the chances of those negative effects actually happening? On the other hand, what are the positive effects? He's heard of terrible stories (IE bad trip, afterwards hearing voices then commiting suicide), but doesn't know their validity. And if he has a bad trip, what exactly is so bad about it, besides the initial bad trip? anything long term? if he thinks he is having a bad trip, is their ways to overcome it, ie music?

Another question he has is that people always say you have to be ready, be in the right state of mind, make sure you have no mental disorders etc. his question is, how do you know all these things exactly?

Possible negative effects
-Become devout jamband and/or psychedelic trance fan.
-Go into denial with the belief that LSD-25 is the only substance that fits on a blotter.
-Start Spending $50-100 bucks for a single trip on a half or full strip of todays low quality acid.
-Become a self appointed guru
-Have a tendency to make over exaggerative claims or sarcasm.
-Start speaking as a veteraned psychedelic user after a couple trips (can even be 1 in some severe cases)

Positive effects
-Being shown how fragile reality is
-Spiritual experience
-Profound experience
-music sounds great
-sex is great
-gives you more open perspective
-can be thrilling, fun, novel

 

Don't forget you'll spend hours of time looking up Terrence Mckenna videos, hoping that somewhere you will discover what will happen on 2012.

Oh man, way over discussed and argued topic here. I'd hate to try to explain it all again. I'm not complaining, I just think it's funny the same exact inquiry arose.

 

Hey, I repped guerilla for you PB, and I enjoyed that post too.
I'd like to add to the negatives list:
-Your house will become decorated with tapestry and black light posters. You will spend money on strobe lights, laser show projectors, and surround sound speakers to make your house the ultimate trip location.

 

I did that to my house... It was totally the best idea I've ever had.

 

Personally speaking I'm not sure about lsd, but I bet its possible, I had a really odd experience on dmt and now I feel kind of anxious and nervous when ever I take anything else, or do dmt. Though the "bad" trip wasn't really bad after given some thought. It brought some things in my life to light for me but obviously took me some time to realize what it all meant. Dmt, is quite a different experience of its own. Just wanted to share that lil bit.
