Cool, Dominé - Dragonlord is the album I recommend most. Where it comes to black metal I prefer the epic, atmospheric stuff above the real rough black metal, also the modern black metal of bands like Dimmu Borgir isn't really my stuff (I love Stormblast though, and Enthrone darkness is pretty good as well).
I couldn't get really into Volcano, but I like Satyricons other albums, and live they're still not to be missed.

Thanks a lot, I'll try to download it.

I enjoy Puritanical more than both Enthrone (the songs sound a bit one-of-a-kind) and Spiritual (too much effort into keyboard arrangements, only Arcane Lifeforce Mysteria was really worthwile)... PEM's more straightforward and quite refreshing overall. Stormblåst is very nice indeed as well.

A friend of mine has seen them at Wacken 2004 while they played together with Nocturno Culto from Darkthrone, I'm sure you know about it, it's already a legendary gig. I'm jealous as hell. :D You weren't there by any chance, were you?

Yes, I was there as well, it was supreme indeed! If i'm not mistaken Mayhem was also playing in 2004. I do mix all my Wacken experiences though, I've been there 4 times. This year is the first I've missed since i visited the festival in 2001.
But that show will probably be one of my favourites.

I'm afraid I'll have to kill you now...

    :p

Man, that's awesome! I'm very glad for you, it must have been the best concert I've ever missed.

I've never had any money for Wacken but I'm determined to go next year together with a lot of friends, money or not. I can always prostitute myself on the way to Hamburg if I haven't got the cash together, right? Today I was watching a documentary from a music programme (Lydverket) from Norwegian television that followed Satyricon at Wacken. Me and my friend Lotte were literally gnashing our teeth and bouncing on our seats with frustratin that all these 70.000 (?) people there had seen them and we had not, even though I've seen that documentary at least 10 times before in this week only, and she's only recently developeded a taste for black metal (she comes from a punk/ska background and got in contact with BM through me and Stijn, a mutual friend and her ex-boyfriend who happens to be in the excellent new sophisticated Black Metal band Saeculum, go to the gig on sunday and we might meet!).

Anyway, damn you for seeing Satyricon at the best gig of their lives on the best festival of the planet and um, yup. :)

If you can go to dutch festivals, you also can go to Wacken. Lowlands would cost me more money incl. travelcosts. Unfortunately I'm not gonna do anything that costs money this weekend, I'm almost broke at the moment and I want to go to Cruachan and the Arnhem Metal Meeting in november. Although I don't listen much metal at the moment, a show of a good band always 's good fun. And for me, AMM has an even better line-up than last year.

I love shows of Enslaved, Thyrfing and Candlemass. And I'm looking forward to Ensiferum as well.

I don't have money for any big festivals, no matter where they are held. :p I live on 120 euros a month, with which I have to pay food, drink, electricity etc (yes, I need to find me a job quickly). AMM sounds good though. Fluisterwoud and Officium Triste are reasonable too, along with the bands you mentioned.

I would've died to go to Wacken this past year.

    BLOODBATH.

    Fucking... BLOODBATH.

Why are all the good shows in different countries?!

well then get the fuck out, or if you don't live here... stay out I guess
you can stay because you are sexy

and about this power metal nonsense I just like metal, the classifications confuse me, I like good metal I don't care what the exact classification is as long as it sounds good

I doubt I'll have any trouble obeying your command on this one, Master.

You don't know what you're missing anyway, cause I'm sexy as w/hell *sticks out tongue* puh!

    (see? oh, the sexxxyness!)

Besides, not being sure about how to spell the very state you live in doesn't quite adverstise the American educational system, now does it?

the American educational system isn't too good I must admit
but that's why I can't spell, my memory is ass when it comes to certain things
and I have trouble with spelling words with multiple vowels in a row and weird things like silent letters and you have to admit Pennsylvania or Pennslyvania (I think it's the first one) is weird with that s y and l there

I'll interpret your silence about my sexyness as being too busy drooling to comment.

    :p

I've never been in America but outside these here forums most Americans tend to be the typical ignorant christian-fundamentalists, or at least (I confess) that group tends to blur my sight when it comes to the good people around. I have a knack for generalising and judging others for generalising.

However, returning to the (power) metal point, Europe's where it's all at.

yeah get in the politic forum if you wanna bitch about America, don't shit in my power metal topic.

HailToTheBabyKing; yes you are right, europe's where it's all at... BUT, the japon scene is getting bigger and bigger, just take a look at Sonata Arctica. They are not alone to love to play there and make stuff just for them.... sadly :(

Blind Guardian already had a quite successful tour through Japan after their third or so album, somewhere in the mid-nineties. The fans are certainly there, but you don't hear a lot of bands from Japan sprouting up just yet.

EDIT: hahaha, just noticed your change in my nickname. It's nice, I like it! :D
