What exactly would justify it for you? I heard Greenspan on Meet the Press, he brought it up at the end of his interview...why only he knows, but it's what we have become mired in since our president and his flunkies lied to a receptive world. Nothing would justify it to me. Greenspan brought it up when he was talking about recessions or possible depression...but of course they never mention the big D word anymore. Would you attack another country just to protect your economy? Would you do that to protect your lifestyle or bank account. Would you snuff thousands if not millions of lives to retain your dvd, widescreen and multiple vehicle lifestyle?
If someone had half a million troops amassed just over my border, I might throw the first punch, otherwise, the concept is a pretty hard sell with me. I'm not going to die over real estate. Or money. I'll just preemptively move to where the fighting isn't. x
But I think we've done just that. How do you live with yourself now? There were no wmd, Iran isn't developing a nuke. Do we go to war because a cowboy tells us he's going to smoke them out and get them dead or alive? Bin Laden is the biggest smoke screen ever, he pops up every election cycle. Wahooo! Rednecks jump on the bandwagon. Sign on for the duration while Blackwater, Carlyle, Haliburton are raping you blind, but your manhood is intact...buy into the marketing and you are just beyond reasonable thought.
Blackwater went from 250,000 dollars in 2004 to 250 million in 2007. I haven't seen my paycheck advance like that have you?
Mexico sends us twelve million, but we are working out the SPP with them, it's in our best interest isn't it?
I'm not endorsing preemptive actions, but I do recognize the will to survive. If someone has made threats against me, and the "clear" evidence points to an invasion, the gloves come off. They have to. At that point, politics, morals, and ethics all surrender to the warrior within. The human animal. In survival mode, this animal comes forth to save your butt. As far as obeying federal orders that classify someone as a threat, I want to see the evidence. All of it. I'm not willing to take the word of what the TV or papers say. I know the psychology of propaganda all too well. There are alot of agendas at work in Washington right now. Few of them serve the public interest. I have no allegence to any nation or religion or race. A world citizen cannot. I have to look at the world as a whole, and address the problems I see. There is a concentrated effort going on in the Middle East right now that intends to unbalance the whole region. The United States and Israel are largely responsible for it. I look at this as a world citizen, not as a US citizen. Borders have no meaning to me. Only people have meaning, and if something is vexing them, I want to know why and what can be done to correct it. x
But the US is painting Syria and Iran as having made threats. None of that has been verified, but the US and the western world are being sold these guys as the new bad guys. Mexico has sent us over twelve million illegals but they aren't the bad guys, they are someone we wish to form an alliance with....They are someone we wish to let chip us and control our borders.
We are supposed to issue them Social Security checks. We should worry about their poor and elderly, at the same time we wish to extinguish all protections for the same population in our own country. Where do you think their allegiance lies, in the US, or back in Mexico where their families are. I have nothing against Mexicans, I just think the US shouldn't buck up their economy. They are a huge country with a moderate climate and huge natural resources, why should the US support them? Clinton bailed them out right after the passage of NAFTA..shouldn't it have give them a direction to national prosperity?
There are some fires that even a seasoned fireman will walk away from. They are best left to burn out on their own. Domestic issues are easy to correct with the proper oganization. When people have had enough of getting whizzed on, they rebel against it. Not there yet. I concern myself mostly with US foreign policy. Its what touches other people around the world. As this is in my own yard, I have some obligation as a citizen to oversee it's good health. There are now many barriers in place that prevent people from getting that close anymore. This govenment of ours has become an entity of it's own. Our Frankstein has now escaped from the lab, run amuck in the world, and leaves giant footprints back to it's point of origin. Us. It's only a matter of time that either "we the people" put this monster in it's place, or the rest of the world will do it for us. Out of fear.
I think our house has been lit by arsonists. We lose our children they gain money in their bank accounts. Colin Powell sold out, Condi Rice sells us on the terrorist threat, but what actually does she know of that. She'll end up rich we'll end up with our children dead and our investments dead in the water.
Let's make the nationalist in Mexicao even richer, let's kill our children in the middle east in order to ensure the big oil interests receive their PSAs. Bush and Cheney don't care they and all their cabinet that have jumped ship have all received their reimbursement. Rumsfield, is taken care of under the SPP, Wolfowitz, hell he and his girlfriend have already seen their return., Ashcroft...I don't know about him I really think he had second thoughts.
I know, it should be in the Humour section. Globe and Mail, Toronto, Canada, 24 September 2007:Earlier Monday, Mr. Ahmadinejad defended the policies of his government before a National Press Club [New York, United States] audience. “People in Iran are very joyous, happy people,” he said when questioned about the arrests of students, journalists and women. “They're very free in expressing what they think.” He said women in Iran were “the freest women in the world ... They're active in every level of society.” -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sorry, Gardener, what's a PSA?
What should be in the humor section is our president and his party's response to a foreign dignitary visiting our country. You think women in Canada or the US are freer than in the middle east, guess again. You tell our women they have to work to live the lifestyle the media makes the most favorable, you tell women they have no control over their bodies, you tell women they should be happy receiving less than men. You tell women their money belongs to their husbands. You tell women they should clean their homes, work eight hours a day, get up when they are sick and meet their spouse's needs, respond to every call from their childrens' schools, sacrifice their professions ...yeah the western world is so far ahead of Iran. America tells women what their bodies should look like and degrade them when they don't live up to it, but no one tells the beer guzzling males that their bodies don't meet a standard.
Gardener: As for what you say in your "you tell" phrases, you're pretty good at putting words in my mouth, and making things up as you go along. Why don't you let me speak for myself, and make up your own lies without putting them in my mouth? No, I've never been to Iran. You think these women are wearing burkhas for the fun of it? You could tell me that they don't wear burkhas, or that they like wearing burkhas, or that (just possibly) they wear burkhas because male chauvinist pigs make them do so on penalty of being totally outcast from their male-dominated society. I'm a male. I know what a male chauvinist pig is. I'm not one. And guess what. I'm not Muslim either.
Women in Iran don't necessarily wear burkhas. Iran is one of the most progressive countries in the middle east. Lebanon was at one time until the US allowed Israel to blow them back ten years or more. Iraq was actually one of the most progressive countries for women's rights until the US declared war.
Of course Iran is. It tortures and murders female journalists just for the fun of it. When the secret police murder a student, they charge the family for the bullets. God is great, and Muhammad is his messenger (?).
And the US didn't bomb and kill journalists during the beginning of the Iraqi war. We have Hillary as a candidate so we must be for female rights...Just not true. We taser students for asking questions during a political conference. We are better...or are we? Have any proof of what you are suggesting Dog? Or just echoing a sound bite you heard?
You Christian fundamentalist seek to tell women what they can do with their own bodies. What children they have to bear, you wish them to work, but you also wish them to be nothing more than your spawn bearers. How are you any better than Muslim males? Don't try and sell you wars based on how you treat your women, you don't have that great a record.
I'm not a Christian, I'm not a Christian fundamentalist, I don't seek to tell women anything. That last makes me better than most Muslim males. Now that your tongue is off and running, do you have any other lies to put in my mouth? See the link http://www.wfafi.org/wfafistatement4.htm with regard to the murder of Zahra Kazemi on 10 July 2003 in Tehran after being raped and tortured.
