Been reading some good stuff here! I'm wondering though, if there's anything I need to watch out for because there's no room for weaning here. Meat=barfing. I'm fine with not eating meat, but looking for advice on helping my body adjust to a sudden switch. So far, eggs and dairy seem ok. In fact, I'm craving milk, which is strange (I wish I could get raw!). I don't do soy and am into the whole foods movement, if that helps? Thanks!
In this case you need to be sure that your taking vitamins and eating enough beans/nuts/grains to replace the iron the meat would be giving you. Also look for meat replacements in the stores, most of them are pretty tasty *they don't taste like meat*but most of them do have soy in them. Hopefully someone with this experience will post!
You should definitely find a b12/creatine supplement, and make sure you're getting enough omega 3's and DHA.
As long as your diet is well-balanced, the only thing you may have to keep an eye out for is iron. I know *I* need to take an iron supplement a few times per week because it just isn't in the typical veggie diet unless you're SUPER careful. Try logging your daily intake into something like Spark People or some other program that can track your nutrients, and see how your doing. It's a whole lot easier to adjust your diet when you KNOW what you're short in. love, mom
