I saw something on GMA about a transgender male who is pregnant. They say he will give birth to a baby girl July 3, 2008. I just had to blink and take in a reality moment of the "times". It's amazing what technology has done ....
He's still female on the inside. Has nothing to do with technology. (I believe he was a female to male) If he still wants to have children even though he considers himself to be a man now, that's okay with me as long as he will be good to the child. I thought they were pretty unkind on the show last night.

I think Thomas is male in gender; obviously he has not had the expensive bottom surgery done, but he is legally male, else he'd not be married to his wife. Hmm. From my experience most trans loath their biological bits that tie them to a gender they aren't. It seems very atypical that one would use their female bits to such a great extent after they've accepted their maleness. Guess the desire to procreate won out over any other conflicts.
I don't even know why this is news. It's a WOMAN, not a man. I don't care how many hormones she has taken, or what has been removed or added. It is a woman, not a man and the whole thing isn't newsworthy.

nah, gender isn't that simple, though in this case it was in reality a genetic woman that got pregnant, though still after taking T for that long it is quite surprising that that happened. Yes it's a hatred of genitals but more of the fact they exist on you, not what they do. Orgasms and such are powerful, it's the desire for sex that wins out. Many M2F people won't get that final surgery over fear they might fuck up and forever lose the sensitivity down there, but normally they don't. However you can make a functioning vagina out of a penis, F2M though kind of get screwed, they can make something that looks like a limp penis, but it is in no way at all functional hence most of them never get it done and keep the old bits.
i see a lot of mixed opinions after reading the comments here. knowing a few transmales personally, i can tell you most of them would not have a child. like some of the above posters said, most trans people hate their biological bits and would not "use" them in that way. it would upset most male-identified people to carry and birth a child. also, as another poster said, gender is not as simple as penis = man, vagina = woman. the trans people i know are exactly the gender they say they are, regardless of any surgeries they've had. sex is located between the legs, but gender is located between the ears. for most of us, these two entities align, but for the transgendered, the gender of the brain does not match the sex between the legs. this causes severe pain and depression for the trans person, and often attempts are made on their own lives before surgery is a viable financial option. that being said, most transmen would not get pregnant because going through a strictly female biological process like that would cause them immense mental distress. on the other hand, many transmen desire to have their own biological children, and that is the only way to do it. either way, i respect his decision. it's not something i personally would do if i had the capability, but he's got more balls than i do to go on national tv as a pregnant man!
