Without going back (yet, that will be next) to read what I missed from this thread since I've last been on here, must say that is hilarious. And not false.
I've been thinking about this post and I'm not quite sure how to respond to it. For one, I told Hotwater in a previous post that I think it's a good thing that there has been a (half, as Odon pointed out) black president. Eventually there should be a latino, a woman and a gay person as well. And guess what? I will judge each one of them, when their time comes, based on their performance alone. As a female I will think it's great if/when we get a woman president, but if I feel her performance is lacking or worse, I will say so and not praise her just because she is a female. Back to what your post says... um, I don't know. Anyone who was like that with Bush because of the religious thing I think is awfully ridiculous if they are judging him based on that reason only also. My mom is an evangelical Christian though and I know she was VERY disappointed of Bush and did not hesitate to say so. Shrugs. Just wanted to say great post and I especially agree with the sentiment at the beginning. :2thumbsup: Yes. But even those who are not insecure still have to deal w national defense. Oh snap. Owned.
Yes, I agree. I actually meant something different though, sorry. I just meant... and of course this is obvious, that is even if individual people- and A LOT of them- aren't frightened of whatever current boogeyman- they can't control the spending and wars and poor national defense strategies that the warmongers in power get their country into. I do think however, that even though a good bit of people aren't afraid of their shadow, so to speak, that a good bit of this country anyway has been brainwashed into being overly fearful.
Actually, I shouldn't have quoted the video because I didn't watch it yet... I plan to though. I think Obama is a puppet though and although I don't ALWAYS agree with Rachel Maddow I recently saw a documentary she made... don't remember what is is called... but it was something about... hm, it may have even been called "Iraq, why we went there" or something like that. More likely something like it. In any case, it seemed pretty accurate to the extent that she got into things-meaning I don't think she delved into everything but I don't think the video's likely to be too crazy. Hm, I'll go watch it now and then post.
It was just it seemed a little about colour rather than just the content of his heart. If you remember the video...
Surely what we pay attention to or cultivate increases in importance or occupies space in the mind. Fear for bodily safety is a false flag operation, no one knowing the hour of their demise. Circumspection of the environment improves chances that you won't be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't mean espionage type surveillance trying to dig up evil. If you dig it up it is sure to be found, however it is just as likely it wouldn't come out of the hole it is hiding in if it weren't. As far as attacks on the united states they are rare. Attacks against persons are more frequent and usually by someone you know. National defense in terms of martial ability should stop at the border. Keeping the lanes of commerce free does not insure a free market and is not a legitimate excuse in my opinion. We are nascent in new found domination and have quite a lot to learn about balance. Some one gave the kids nuclear weapons before they grew up. First we worry about the blindness in our own eye.
Of course he’s mixed race you idiot but in this country if you are of mixed racial heritage (black/white) you're considered Black - Duh! Hotwater
You know he is mixed race but you consider him black/one of your own? And you're calling ME an idiot? WOW!
Okay, I thought the video was really good. There were numerous things I thought of commenting on as I watched it. Trying to think now....well, first of all, Hotwater should watch it. Especially what the BLACK MAN said at the beginning because apparently only black people can speak about any of this. But I have a feeling even if he watched the video none of it would make any difference to him or change his views at all. No, Obama should not have gotten a peace prize. But you know what it goes to show EXACTLY that mentality that hotwater has and also what they were saying earlier in the video. That people right off the bat gave Obama a PASS- because he's black, yes, but ALSO because of all the wonderful things Obama SAID when he was campaigning and because people were so sick and tired and disgusted after the Bush years. That's actually something that is really scary that because of who Obama is... black, a democrat, someone who TALKED about ending war and not taking money from lobbyist and all the other wonderful things he said... well, he was able to do A LOT of things with people being blind, supporting him regardless or at least turning a blind eye because of who he supposedly is. It's the same thing with the peace prize. You don't get a preemptive peace prize. You need to earn it. You don't automatically be something to be proud of just because of your skin color. Or anything else. You have to EARN those things. Which he did not. The thing about him serving for the UN, having two jobs at once is another rather scary thing. (which the video got into at the end)... but that, and many other things Obama has done.... well, I'll just say it... people allowed it to happen by giving him way too much credit who things that he IS instead of things that he's DONE.
Stupid shit. Not true. It's black and white in that case silly. This isn't the same thing but I wonder what you think about my two cousins being 100% black (they were adopted as babies actually but grew up knowing no other parents and extended family).... and they grew up in a white family and they view us (their parents, their cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.) as exactly the same as them... just, family. I don't consider them black family or adopted just...family. But the funny thing is...even though you (hotwater) grew up around a bunch of white people I don't think you'd even understand what my point is. Well, my point is--- you consider people that are black or black and white as "yours" like the black people own them or something when what I'm trying to say is no body owns anyone and I'm sure my cousins consider themselves more connected to me than to you just because your black. God, you just almost make me mad.
I just wanted to say I read that and that is a really good post. There's really nothing I can think to add to it because you summed things up very well. :2thumbsup: Well, I guess the only thing I can think really is I wonder what the solution to these things-just, the way things are and the way things have been, is?
LOL...no, don't mind if you quote me on that. :2thumbsup: It's hard to explain- he doesn't make me mad really and I don't even usually feel mad @ Hotwater. But on this topic I always feel like I'm trying to talk to a wall on these issues and it can do no good. None of the black people that I know in the real world and either am friends with or were friends with in the past have had his mentality... all of it... just none of them have been like him so it's just frustrating to me. And no, I was not trying to call him God! LOL
Yes... because in the back of my head when I asked that question about a possible solution I was thinking "or is it really too late and there really is nothing that can be done?" then also thinking "is that too pessimistic of a thing to think about that or just more realistic?" but I do think you hit the nail on the head. I tend to believe with all my heart in the children being the future and applying that, to the best of my ability, to the way I parent. It actually gives me a real sense of hope.
Sorry, I rarely ever resort to name calling but in this case I think it was justified. My grandparents were Cape Verdean. Technically I’m of mixed race (half Portuguese) but my family and I refer to ourselves as African Americans. We were born in this country and identify with the black community and wouldn't have it any other way. BTW over the past 6 months there have been several cases involving public figures who were either fired or resigned their position (including a police commissioner here in new hampshire) who called the President the N word. – But of course he’s of mixed race and is identified as such - what was that commissioner thinking Hotwater
