whats up guys. i just got this tattoo of a treblePEACEclef, obviously something very symbolic. below is a picture taken the day of the tattoo and the week following. so... i had my friend's dad do it. i saw his work before and wasn't worried at all that he was amateur.i bought the supplies at a local tattoo shop and that 30--odd dollars was all he charged me. i got to his house to find out that i had the wrong tube for the needle he was using. he went ahead and used the wrong supplies and pretty much messed up my tattoo (with crooked lines). the tattoo was on my ribs, unfortunately a notorious place for pain. after the tattoo was done i was very dissatisfied in the result. this is the original drawing that he traced onto my body. the results are so faded and just completely "off". MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHETHER OR NOT I SHOULD RETURN TO THE SAME AMATEUR ARTIST AND TRUST IN HIM WITH THE RIGHT SUPPLIES TO CORRECT THE LINES AND HIGHLIGHT IT SO IT WILL LOOK THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO OR GO TO A WELL KNOWN LOCAL ARTIST WHOM OF WHICH WOULD CHARGE CONVENTION PRICES. really, any advice would be helpful at this point. thank you :]
he's clearly a beginner. i could have done a better job without a gun, just pick n poke. good luck on getting that fixed by a reputable artist.
Fuck that shit. A good tattoo artist that can work with alterations and coverups should be able to fix that up right quick.
A tattoo shop had a sign that said "Good work don't come cheap." Seriously, when it comes to permanent shit I would rather pay $150 to get something done right then pay pocket change to get something half-ass.
so true! It's gonna be on your body forever, you might as well save up the money for a great artist and get him to do something you'll love. That guy is clearly an amature. Good Luck!
i think this way looks better, really. It looks more creative. Treble clefs themselves can be boring but this at least shows that it's symbolic of creativity. Anyways, go to a pro. It should be pretty easy to fix.
IMHO, that guy should stick to pigs feet and oranges for a long while longer. No, I wouldn't trust him ever again. Especially as a beginner, he shouldn't have been willing to make compromises on using the correct supplies etc. I also wouldn't go back to the shop that sold you the supplies. Any shop good enough to have clients won't waste their time selling supplies 1 piece at a time to garage slingers. Sorry you got a crappy tattoo, but the signs were there that this guy was not competent. I think its interesting how many people complain about the bad tattoo they got and then go onto describe the horrible situations they overlooked while agreeing to get the work. Seriously, if it looks like a janky situation it likely will be. Sure, there are quality tattooist working from their homes and shitty ones working in shops. However, the signs of a good tattoist will be the same anywhere: 1. Extensive portfolio of work with pictures of HEALED tattoos 2. A dedicated workspace with non-porous surfaces, running water, good lighting, and an autoclave. 3. A quality tattoo machine and supplies. Trying to do tattoos with a cheap machine and limited supplies is like trying to build cabinets with a handsaw and a hammer.
forreal good tattoos arent cheap, and cheap tattoos arent good. go to a shop, it should be lookin fly in no time!
Not always true, I got a tattoo for dirt cheap and it was very well done. It's just about knowing the artists limitations.
When he got ready to trace a drawing with shading on me I would have jumped up. The tracing should never have shading on it.
What others have said... whats a few more bucks for something thats going to be on your body forevermore?
lol my first tattoo was done in a shop and cost me $140 for a notical star!(took about 20mins) turned out like total shit, the dude butchered me. my other 5 tattoos were done at my sisters kitchen table by a dude fresh out of jail who had never used a real tattoo gun before! and they are PERFECT IMO! and cost me under $300....... point of this story is just because someone works in a tattoo shop dont mean they can do shit!
you get what you pay for! Sorry dude that is fucked, that is shit! Go to good reputible place and they should be able to salvage that for you. They may have to use dark colors to work it out but it would be worth it as Id hate to have that on me.
If he sucked the first time, he's not going to magically be better the second time around! 100% check out a real tattoo artist, it's easy to fix but I would put my trust in a professional this time
