so the owner of the land next to my farm is biulding on it to store construction eqiptment.he allready has one building on done.today i went to the farm to find him out there rippin trees up (large group of sand cedars).he did leave sevral trees on the lot line wich is what we discussed months agoe.he promisses to get a 15 foot tall chain link fence up allso.(our wooded background to the gardens is gone now)(now we see a storeage biulding and eqipment to biuld another)the fence should do the trick for a background if i plant it.I have lots of wild grape vines and wild hops on othe fences and gazebos.
So my ?? is,what should i plant?should i just transplant hop and grape plants?or is there somethin eles i should look into.i need it to colinize a fence 15 feet tall and 150 yards long.i whant it to have full covradge relitively soon(2 or 3 years)
the fence should look real nice as a background to the rest of the gardens once it is fully coverd. It will be a large green liveing wall.probly put some climbing type flowers on it allso. So anny suggestions annyone.I know p.o.d. and teepi may have some ideas(wat are your thoughts you 2)and annyone eles.anny ideas.this should look pretty cool if i plant the right plant.
    thanks for your ideas.
    sunshine to you

Any vines that you plant are likely to be agressive..."invasive"...

Having said that, How does wisteria do up there? Plant moonflowers and blackeye susan vines and morning glory, Hyacinth bean or any other climbing bean. Plant luffa. Or cukes, goards. The list is endless. How about climbing roses?

For year round privacy, a row of pine or cedar. Maybe you could get wax myrtle or magnolia / bay to grow up there.

i love the idea of climbing roses with clematis intertwined.

i also love the idea of using such a large trellis for food.
cukes, squash, beans ( I love hyacinth beans very pretty) peas, plant some food and donate it to a local soup kitchen or sell it if you need the bux.
Too bad your not a bit lower zone wise.
Birdhouse gourds would be so great.

Hops is great ( send me some sweetie!!haha) do you have eroica??/ I have grown cascade but our favorite to brew with is Willamete and eroica.

Also how about something for the birds??
Will bittersweet grow there or porcelian vine?? They are both beautiful.

There may be a hardy enough Wisteria for that area but I'm not sure.

I trained some winter squash up some lattice this past year and it did great.
Also the is a green called Malabar spinach it grows trellised, but not sure about that area.

    Can't wait to see pics!!
