I just got my 3 padro cutting and i have found pups on each of the cuttings. I am wondering how big they need to be before i cut them off and replant them. I was thinking that i might be able to cut a 3" chunk off the cutting and get it to root and let the pups get bigger before i cut and plant them. So if any one has any idea of what i should do please help me.

If you're planning to plant the pups, make sure the pups are aboout 3-4 in. long, let the bottom freshly cut part of the cactus dry out for about 2-5 days until it forms a semi-hard crust (so the cactus wont rot), bury the pup almost completely, and do not water it for about 2-4 weeks. After the 2-4 week period, water it once a week on summer, once a month on moderate temperature, and don't water it on winter (maybe some sprinkles here and there). Once the pup reaches 7-8 in. in lenght, you want to undig it and replant it deeper. Once the cactus reaches a good 12-15+ inches, you might want to get a cutting 2-3 inches above soil level from that cactus (cutting being about 10-12 inches) and cut off 2-3 inches of the cutting and use the middle part as you will. Good luck.
