purple haze no longer around - ?

okay so i was reading a post where someone had 'purple haze',
and last month i got some 'purple haze'


but i have been told multiple times that it's not around anymore.



1. why isn't it around anymore?
2. who said it wasn't around anymore?
3. uhh well i mean just explain it to me so i know more

 

from what some kid in my Algebra class told me, Jimmy Hendrix had the last know strain of "Purple Haze". probably bullshit, but who knows.

i had some legit purple haze the other night. it was pretty much just as described, the color was so nice after it was broken up. i didnt even wanna smoke it lol

 

I'm not familiar with the strains Hillbilly's mentioned but the first time I heard about purple haze as a strain of cannibis was back in '96. It was bred strictly for commercial purposes. The name was taken from Jimmi Hendrix's song- Purple Haze. Haze was a strain that was bred in the late 60's, early seventies by two brothers in California. So Jimmi Hendrix's purple haze was LSD that I believe he took at Monterrey. The purple haze that I am familiar with was a waste of time and money.
I think this is still an over-rated strain that is basically commercial crap.

3) The "REAL" purple haze has said to have died out long ago. There is still purple weed sure, but its not the very first strain that was the original. Purple weed is still quite alive.

And wtf about jimi hendrix that sounds like some dumb shit. purple haze was a type of LSD was it not? (sorry didnt read all of the responses yet)

Whatever the origin of the term purple haze, fact of the matter is, today it's just a gimmick used by shitty dealers to get you to buy the stuff.

And judging by the fact that everyone here gets all giddy whenever purple weed or purple haze is mentioned, it's working.

Don't buy into the hype. Purple weed is no better or different (other than the color) than any other properly grown and cured bud.

 

well,my feelings on it is this,

if i pay 100 bucks for ten seeds coming from Amsterdam (not that i ever would)of a strain called "purple haze", i could care less what a buncha people stuck on a STUPID unverifiable rumor about hendrix have to say.

If they didnt wanna buy my buds with a THC content of 20% because they think the strain died with hendrix which BTW back then THC contents would have been considered dank at 10% then fuckem,i would smoke the shit myself.

People who are stuck on that rumor and think it musta been some magical strain have no grasp of the evolution of weed through genetic breeding.

mid grade Weed today is stronger than the best weed to be found 30 or 40 years ago.

Keep believing that rumor. gives me a laugh...

i just googled up the strain and grabbed the first two. there are plenty more on the web it appears.

i could care less,as i said i wouldnt buy the seeds anyway..

 

from what i've heard, the song title/lyrics came about cos jimi had this (really common, but i can't remember the name) condition where the mind draws comparisons between colours, smells, sounds and sensations. when he wrote his songs, he used a lot of hendrix chords which were neither minor or major, which he said he saw as being like a "purple haze". and the strain was named after the song, not the other way round, which a lotta people think

anywayyy to the dude who said it's no better then any other, purple haze is, it is more of an upbeat high, the two times i've had it it was good, and it wasn't shitty. so wtg.
