Have you ever visited Other countries in Europe, North and South and noticed how the quality of food in their markets and supermarkets is 1000 times better than in Britain? Here we have bread that that tastes like cardboard if you buy it from supermarkets. We have Tomatoes that have have been genetically engineered to have less sugar so that the shelf life is higher but they are hard and taste of absolutely nothing like what tomatoes should taste like. Go taste some in France and Spain. Also when you buy cheese and meat product its mainly just the arse end of the market with all the best stuff going overseas. Ever tasted proper mature chedar cheese that has been made in a traditional way, by comparison the stuff you get in a supermarket is basically some rubberised sour milk with a shitload of salt added. CFompared to the rest of Europe we eat like pigs and accept the slop the rest of Europe wont eat
I agree with this for the most part. When I go to Switzerland, the food just blows food here out of the water. They don't quite have the junk food culture that they do here, and it's apparent. Of course, it's still better than the US. In my last trip there, I had a hard time eating, simply because it just didn't taste of anything and absolutely everything was meat or cheese...fruit and veg are GM...I was never so glad to get back here though and eat a proper piece of fruit...
well the 'common' man eats like 'shit' however im sure you'll agree that if you 'wanted' to eat 'well' then you certainly good...certainly the choice is there...so its personal choice really
personal choice is right apart from price maybe got fuck all to do with the common man " this commoner eats well healthy and nutrious shit man .anyone for stew STICKS FUCKIN HAIRS ON THE CHEST ......... ....WETHER YER A COMMONER A TOFF OR EVEN A SOUTHERNER  SORRY DUDES ........ITS ABOUT INDIVIDUALITY WHAT SHIT ONE CHOOSES TO STUFF IN HIS GOB ........IS IT NOT .
yeah man ........good points........ about the cheese ......watched something othernight about a farm producing homemade cheshire cheese and how it tastes the way it used to and should do instead of all this rubbishy shite found on supermarket shelves nowadays.
e....fuckin358596.........no doubt.......chemical colourant and theirs me thinking its somesort of dialling code .......... no wonder ecolis raising its ugly head more ..
yeah man just imagining a british king eddy popping up from the soil and saying i must be crap ........ anyone for tennis
Sure! Rather come across more Pacific than Atlantic (which i wont be corssing anyway) Specific aboot whaty though? The food? Well i go into a restaurant and either get some disgusting hunk of burger and greasy chips shoved infront of me or something unrecognisable covered in gravy
It's no to say British food is shit, after all British Beef, even after BSC, has a good reputation; has an army of top rated chefs world-wide and, if you can afford to, eat some of the finest food served in Europe. What is the problem is how we buy our food. The supermarket has more or less completely changed our grocery shopping. Which has led to tasteless tomatos. Again, cheddar cheese must have originated from Cheddar?
I don't blame the supermarket after all they will only stock what sells, and the consumer is the driver of that.
My experience of continental foods is that of freshness, juiciness and most of all has taste. When I was in Spain back in 2002, I remember tasting Spanish tomatoes with their frizzy leafed salad lettuce. It was fresh, sweet and was amazed how fresh the tomatoes were. I also remember back in 2004 when I entered Bavaria Munich. The cakes were delicious and their beer was even better. Also the cheeses, sausages and other foods that one could buy from their supermarkets, was tasty. It is just this country Britain that the food lacks any kind of taste. Our government and the health agency have terrorised us with gothic horrors about salt. Also we have a lot of GM foods and this has affected our foods. Shame really. Imagine if France and britain were one nation or that you didn't need a passport to get to france from britain. I would be doing my shopping in Calais.
can't you go to farmer's markets or something? surely SOMEONE has figured out how to raise veggies properly.
