I know there's a thread in the US section, but I was wondering what UK peeps thought about it, I haven't seen it yet but might still do if it's still on. I thought he was overall very good in Casino Royale, though the bit where he got his gonads whacked really freaked me out, don't like that intensity of screen violence. But the extended love scene made me puke. The critics went on about how amazing it was, but I thought it was embarrassingly badly done. Anyway, yeah or neah for QoS?
I rather enjoyed it. It is different, granted. There are a few throwbacks to the old Bond films, but overall I found it to be a really good film. You can see where they have learned from other Action genre movies as well, such as the Bourne Trilogies to give Bond a more realistic spy-like quality. Which I know some of the purests out there might not be fond of. Overall, however, I thought it was quite a good film. Filled with lots of action, no highly painful to watch scenes (such as when his bollocks were hit in the first movie), and well you can't beat the number of chase scenes in the film! I'd say it was definitely worth the cost of a cinema ticket. And I'm sure when it's out on DVD we'll add it to the collection.
I kind of liked the rawer, more brutal feel of the first film. Yes the bollock whacking made me cringe too, but it didn't feel out of place in the darker reboot....
The honest opinion is that its absolute CRAP ! !...Spoilt by lazy producers use of computor generated fight/chase scenes.. until they can master computor generated scenes to make them seem barely plausible they should leave well alone ! !
