It takes some time...good luck! I'm not sure how long. I just didn't want this thread to go unanswered, then you think no one supports you. Let us know how it goes!

I have read that sugar withdrawal could linger on for a week or more. It will get easier though,no doubt...and for some people,it just lasts a few days...
Don't let any of that get to you though. You do have support here...and I am wishing you the best of luck.

make sure you get lots of natural sugar (unless your quitting that too which would be really unhealthy!)
eat lots of fruit or you'll probably keep get headaches

Ayep. I quit [refined] sugar a year ago. Never felt better. But you gotta eat fruits like a maniac those first few weeks, especially if you're detoxxing all the sucrose out of your system. If you're really having a hard time, you can buy fructose (fruit sugar) at most supermarkets now. But that's totally cheating.

So you've quit eating refined sugar? Wow, better you than me. ;) Granted, I try to reduce the amount of sugar that my family and I consume, and if we try to have something that has added sugar, such as sweetened applesauce or juice, it's just too sweet and we can't even finish it. In fact, my kids rarely ever drink juice, and of course, absolutely no soda.

But we do like to have dessert in the evenings, so it would be hard to give up refined sugar completely I believe, at least for us. Not saying that we couldn't do it, just that would we really want to do it? ;)

I quit soda, a few years ago - I can't let go of Chocolate, though. :p And I'm on and off coffee, depending on how I feel. :)

I quit sugar (all forms, including natural), about 3 months ago. It was a very tough thing to do, but now, I feel incredible guilty when I do splerge and have a cookie, or a twizler or something.

The reason why I chose to quit all forms of sugar was because recently I just spent over $1500 on dentist appointments, fixing cavities (I have no dental insurance). I had ignored the dentist for like 7 years, and sugar has been my lover. But, now that all is well with my teeth, I don't want a repeat.

Sometimes I still feel tired, but all together I feel 100% more healthy that I"ve ever felt.

Yikes. So, like, you didn't allow yourself any fruits at all? I'd be dead within a week. One thing to remember, tho: there are different kinds of sugar. Sucrose (refined sugar) is a highly complex & nasty molecule, whereas fructose (apples, etc) is very basic and quickly converts into energy. That's the one thing I learned in Chem before I flunked out. [IMG]
