I love history and quotes, so I decided to put together a website called American History Quotes http://americanhistoryquotes.com. I've been working on populating the people quoted from throughout US history, and now I'm also working on linking in famous speeches from the past. If you're a history lover, let me know what you think!
In the past I have used American Rhetoric, but I will definitely check your site out. Personally I liked some of FDR's speeches. I used to have an file of his first inaugural on my mp3 player. Any possibility of incorporating sound files on your site?
Thanks for the site, especially the quotations from King George. It reminds me of the time I was leading my burro, George W., across Death Valley in July loaded down with 300 pounds of corn. The heat came down big time, and the sacks burst as all the corn suddenly started popping. In a few minutes the burro and I were hip deep in popcorn. But poor old George W., he thought the popcorn was snow, and he just lay right down in it and froze to death.
Those that would sacrifice liberty in order to gain safety deserve neither liberty nor safety- Ben Franklin To say that we must not critisize the president and that we must stand by him whether right or wrong is not only servile but morally treasonous to the American public.- Teddy Roosevelt
Thats one of my favorites! Probably my favorite would be "You can fool all of the people some of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time" There are a few Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt quotes I love as well
I love how you have quotes from Carl Sagan. One of my favorite quotes is missing though: "It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reasurring.” - Carl Sagan
