******, spic, wetback, honky, coon, mick, kyke, bitch, and **** are all very disturbing words to me. I don't think that there is any nice way to use them. I am a black youth and aware that people of the same race call each other racial slurs in a non-derogatory way, or so they try. I don't think that there is any way to redeem these words. I feel that when someone of the same race uses derogatory words towards their race it's a way of accepting that they are inferior as human beings. I know that people will still continue to use these words, but my point is that these words are sick and should be forgotten.
If they felt they were inferior, wouldn't they want to avoid talking about it rather than proclaiming to the world "I consider myself inferior"? I think that the words can be used as a form of empowerment...when Chris Rock or Dave Chapelle uses the word "******" and their audiences laugh, I doubt inferiority is their ruling emotion. I think it's great; the hate of these words is reduced every time someone uses them in jest (as long as everyone involved KNOWS its in jest).
Words are words, they have neither good or bad elements to them. It is the attitude, the meaning, behind the words that really matter. I think it is unfortunate that some people have turned some words in our language into weapons of racism and oppression. We will never be able to drop these words from our language, but as long as they perpetuate the negative connotation to these words it is the best we can ask for. Remember, there was a day when "******" was just as normal and accepted word to say as "man" or "woman" and people said it shamelessly - aristocrats, shy people, mean people, successful people, and poor people alike. It is much different now.
I hate it when racial slurs are used. It's so unnerving. It really bothers me that some people have to resort to stereotyping and hating that stereotype. It IS sick and whenever I hear it, I usually call someone out on it. A simple "that's not cool" is all I say. Sometimes more, but I never lecture. People won't listen to that. But if you make them stop and think for even 1 second, you're making progress.
I SAY NIGGA WITH MY BLACK FRIENDS AND IM MEXICAN AMERCICAN. DONT REALLY GIVE A FUCK WHAT PEOPLE THINK BOUT ME, GO AHEAD AND THINK IM A WETBACK. BORN AND RASIED IN AMERICA, JUST LIKE YOU. IF YOU SAY IT TO MY FACE, THATS DIFFERENT
We talking about derogatory or racial slurs or both? Because bitch and **** are hardly racial slurs. I don't ever use racial slurs because I'm not a racist. Basically, why would you ever care if anyone used these words? It's a sign of their ignorance and you can pretty much assume that anything you have to say to them will go unheard. Take the higher road and ignore them because giving them attention is exactly what they want.
I don't see what's wrong with these words. I use words like ******, wop and dago all the time, but not in a bad way - it's just what I call those races. I'm sure there are some racists who call blacks niggers, but then I bet there are racists who call them 'african-american people of colour' too, so what the hell. They're just words - I have a particularly striking head of ginger dreadlocks, so I get all manner of 'racial slurs' directed at me, but I don't care; it's just good fun. If people really want to fuck with you, they'll do it whatever words they use.
i agree with jim. the only thing I have to say about racial slurs is that chapelle or chris rock can make fun of blacks, but when a white guy does, it's rasicst. same with other cultures of course. and hate crimes. WTF! hate crimes? that pisses me off. I thought everyone was equal... and the only reason I'm so mad about it cause my dad and a puerto rican were both applying for the same job. my father was more qualified, but the puerto rican got it cause the company needed more minorities by law. Yeah, equal my ass.
Well, maybe the dictionary, which has the globally accepted definitions in it, can help you out. Of course, I'm sure you will say how the dictionary isn't valid or some BS like that, but whatever. disparaging: To speak of in a slighting or disrespectful way ****** & coon: Used as a disparaging term for a Black person spic: Used as a disparaging term for a Hispanic person wop: Used as a disparaging term for a person of Italian birth or descent kike: Used as a disparaging term for a Jew wetback: Used as a disparaging term for a Mexican honky & cracker: Used as a disparaging term for a white person dago: Used as a disparaging term for an Italian, Spaniard, or Portuguese mick: Used as a disparaging term for a person of Irish birth or descent The list goes on, but this should do the trick. Probably not, but oh well you can't help everyone.
I don't use theses words, but lots of the kids at my school do. I know people think it's OK, because by them using it, they've taking the power out of the word ******...But we had a black sub once, who was ofended when some black kids used that word. I mean, if you're just with your friends, and joking around and everyone knows that, I guess it's OK to call eachother whatever you want...but I don't think you should do it in public. I think it public it makes people look ignorant...
Let me add that faggot, dyke, and queer are also harsh words too. All of these harsh words I've mentioned I think that if you're trying to prove a political point on how racism, sexism, and homophobia are ignorant it's okay to use them. I've seen white liberals that are anti-racist use them in political poetry and I've even heard balck comedians do skits where they act like they're racist towards blacks, mexicans, ect. I must admit that sometimes the comedy skits are funny, but I still hope that one day these words will be removed from the english language. They may never be, but if they are removed I hope that I'm around when it happens.
Yes, I know that they're disparaging terms. I just don't care! I don't refer to my hair colour as "auburn", or my ethnicity as "causasian" - I'm a ginger sheep-shagger, and that's how I likes it. ;-P Seriously though, what wrong with being disparaging? You think dagos take trouble not to use offensive words for us? Everyone does it, it's just how people talk.
I don't use them, I feel if someone chooses to be offensive towards me I'll use a certain arsenal, that arsenal makes me one arrogant sounding son of a bitch, but in most circumstances I don't use profanity and I have only uttered a racial slur to ask what it meant when I was very young
I was driving my car to my friend Mick's house today, when a raccoon ran out into the road in front of me. I hit the breaks and tried to miss him, but I ran him over anyway. I felt really bad, but there wasn't much I could do. Later that day, I noticed that the raccoon had left a bloody mess on my front bumper. So I went into the garage, and grabbed a bottle of Spic-n-Span and decided to wash my car. That really did the trick, but I did have a wet back from the hose that sprayed me a little when I first turned it on.
Me and my friends exchange racial slurs all the time when we're hangin out. I call them snowflakes, they call me "GH". It's a short for for gas huffer. I'm aboriginal and it would REALLY piss me off if anyone outside of my friend circle ever called me something like that.
Hey i'm a cracker wooohoo. You can call me whatever you want because whites are the best race out there. But are slowly being taken over by wetbacks, coons, spics, because we have money and we can affored to do stuff other then sit at home and fuck all day and we can affored condoms and birth control. I hope this pisses alot of people off because WHITE POWER rules!
