I bet you don't know who the first gun control activists were in the United States, do you? Well believe it or not, it was none other than the mutha-fuckin' KKK  They pushed for gun control after the civil war to disarm the newly freed slaves so they could go around and terrorize black families and their properties without risk of being shot at. http://www.infowars.com/gun-control-was-historically-about-repressing-blacks/ But because I cannot C&P a whole article, I'll drag out a few highlights:
Well, the irony is that there are racist roots in a lot of things "tolerant" liberals support, including Margaret Sanger's Planned Parenthood.
Finding a source other than infowars.com is a good first step towards getting people to pay attention to what you're trying to say.
Why not address the information presented first (or at least see if it's accurate) before immediately attacking the source? I am no fan of Alex Jones either, but that doesn't necessarily mean the information put forward is wrong.
It doesn't, but it means that pretty much anyone who the OP is trying to reach will most likely not click the link and just skip over this post.
That's basically like saying: If you must know, the actual source Infowars got it from was here: http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2013/02/gun-control-was-historically-about-represssing-blacks.html
It's more akin to having a set of encyclopaedias in which you consistently find incorrect information - why continue to keep looking for information in those books if you're just going to have to double check with a more reliable source anyway? I'm also not saying I disagree with you... but I think you could find a racist history behind anything, given the history of North America.
after the kkk figured out they'd just shoot each other in the streets, they gave up the idea.. :leaving:
this is interesting, but not particularly relevant. plenty of bad things had noble origins, and plenty of good things had nasty origins. what matters is what happens now, not what was intended a long time ago. don't get me wrong; i'm not arguing for gun control at all. i'm just saying that i care much more about what gun control means today than what it meant 150 years ago.
It's completely relevant to the comparison of today's standards. The gun control advocates are the bullies who wish to disarm populations to inflict harm on them. It is the same now as it was back then. Why do you think the DHS is stockpiling their ammunition supplies as gun control bills are working their way through state and federal Congresses?
fair enough. as long as you're not just saying "gun control is bad because racists were once for it."
Because you have plenty of anti-constitutional, second amendment hating lunatics going on about how the NRA is the new KKK. When in fact if they opened up a history book, their blasphemy backfires and blows up in their faces as they are the real racists themselves. I'm no NRA member, but this kind of hypocrisy is fucking ridiculous!
I'm an NRA member, and I can't remember burning any crosses. And I have a lot of black and foreign friends. Yet another stupid comparison from the demofascists.
Let me google that for you http://www.google.com/search?q=nra+is+the+new+kkk&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari Gun control psychos are the real racists who've got the blood of thousands of victims of democide all over their hands.
FbC...it's a good arguement except you're wrong about the kkk. The first gun control in this country was when they made it a crime to sell guns to the natives.
Interesting, I didn't know. Makes sense. Those laws must've been put in place to make throwing the natives off their lands and sending them to reservations on barren waste lands with unproductive soil qualities much much easier. Racist origins nonetheless.
