What exactly is Raelianism? All I've heard is it is some sort of "UFO sex cult" or something like that.[IMG] Anyone ever been involved with Raelianism or know anything about it?

Well I remember they supposedly created the first true human clone a couple years ago...which gave them a little media buzz for a month or two. Haven't heard a thing about 'em since.

From what I understand the Raeliens were started by an Indy car driver when he claims that he was visited by aliens. He renamed himself Rael hence Raelians. They believe that immortality can be achived through cloning. This alien race told Rael all about it. Basically after you have cloned yourself you can "download" your memories into the new body, if you do this forever you can live forever.

They are an interesting alien contactee cult. I think they are one of the biggest of their kind, also fairly similar in beliefs to some other ufo cults. I remember (on their website) reading that they believe that only the smartest people should be allowed to vote. The human race was genetically designed by an aliens, etc. Check out their website - http://www.rael.org/ Has a bunch of videos and presentations and stuff. I have not heard any bad things about them aside from people critizing their beliefs, unlike the evils done by scientology. Don't know anyone personally involved with them though.

can u name a few other "alien contactee cults"? :p
    i know that i cant
there is one about people who do some kind of meditation or something and allow their bodies be taken over to receive cosmic messages.... but i think they only had a few hundred followers at their peak, and the raelians have about 60,000 i believe..... so i dont think there is anything anywhere NEAR as big as them....
    they are really dodgey though

    peace :)

Raelians focus their religion around building an Embassy in Israel to contact with the "creators", the aliens.

Does Raelianism have anything to do with the belief that aliens are living in the Swiss Alps and other mountai ranges, and that they created humans as slaves in mines in Africa? And now they maintain contact with a group of 300 families that rule the world and will one day make their presence known and rule over us? It involves the alien leader Mardukk and they come from a planet captured by our sun that was last by Earth in Roman times. They also believe that the Old Testemant God was actually the aliens, called gods by the ignorant humans of the day.

Is that part of the Raelian belief, or TOTALLY separate from that? Much more info on what I was saying can be found in the books by David Icke. Keep in mind it's all conspiracty theories, and I like many CTs, I've been exposed to them and over the years realize they're almost always false. They just prey upon seeminly obvious points, that are very subjective and open to interpretation. I can't really word it at all...anyway, I'm getting WAY off topic.

David Icke is a nutter. He went on either TV or radio and declared that the Government were all giant lizards in disguise!

But i do love David Icke for his madness :)

These are some fucked up people.
    They're probably been "brainwashed", literally.
Brains were removed and placed in a washing machine.
They were cleansed with Diet Pepsi and orange juice.
No wonder these people are fucked up in the head.

All religions are cults. More wars have been fought because of religion. Religions is the opium of the masses. Not only is religion the opium of the masses, for some, it is cyanide.

Been hanging with the Raelians... a friend asked me this:

    Subject: Article
    Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 14:00:11 -0700

... a interesting notion. If Raelians believe that "aliens" created us then what do the "aliens" believe created them?

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24598508/

    My reply:

The problem with most any religious group, is that they keep coming back to faith. Faith in God, faith in the after life, faith in something...

For Raelians, the list is not any shorter: faith in Aliens, that Rael went to another planet, saw Jesus and Buddha, that Rael received instructions from Aliens called Elohim that made Biblical references to justify their claims, and yes, incomprehensible faith that all things small reside in all things big. The only thing that I really want to believe in Faith, is that people can love one another, that wars can end, that people can be sexual and free to think openly about pleasure and not be controlled 'in faith' by the dogma we find ourselves constantly surrounded, even in the hope of escaping Christian dogma, we are drowned in new dogma such as the Raelian version, only the names change, but great Faith is still required if you choose to believe it.

Now if it were my religion, based on advanced Aliens, I would admit evolution while pointing to the fact that more species could be spread across the Universe through genetic engineering and colonization, than would ever naturally occur through the required long periods of evolutionary progress. It is statistically more probable that if advanced life evolved anywhere in the Universe in the first 14 billions years, that it is more likely that other advanced life came from their efforts of seeding and engineering life, than natural and improbable advanced evolution elsewhere (due to that long time period required and the less than 1% probability that it can occur at all). Instead, Raelians answer... all things large are in all things small for eternity... and answer for those faithful must also believe that the Earth/Humans are only 25,000 years old while incongruently claiming that you embrace science.

But this is good news, at least I can believe in aliens without being a heretic (well its a little late for that) but now I at least have permission from 'God' to believe in Aliens. Do they know something I don't, like we are about to be invaded, but as the foreteller's of such, we are not to stop believing since we have been told "life is out there" from our religious leaders. I think I will add Catholicism to the Wiki's list of UFO religions! :)

    Peace and Love,

    What is Raelism?

Raëlism or Raëlian Church consists of the practitioners of a UFO religion founded by a former French sports-car journalist and test driver named Claude Vorilhon. Raëlians believe that Vorilhon, who is known by the movement as Raël, received special knowledge and instruction for mankind from the creators of life on Earth, human-like extraterrestrials called Elohim whose technology enabled them to appear as "angels" or "gods" in the eyes of ancient people. Raëlians believe that previous visitation from Elohim sparked the founding of many major religions humanity knows today.

Raël founded the Raëlian Movement in Paris, France in 1974 after a large conference. The International Raëlian Movement has been described as "the largest UFO religion in the world". The Raëlian Church now has a quasi-clerical structure with a height of seven levels. At the top is Claude Vorilhon, now known as Raël. Joining the movement involves a transmission ceremony as well as an official apostasy from other religions in recognition of Elohim, as the creators of life from the heavens. About one-third of Raëlians pay dues to the Raëlian Church. Members are asked to follow the Raëlian ideals that speak against the use of recreational drugs, tobacco, coffee and limit alcohol to moderation, if at all. Sensuality is an important part of the Raëlian doctrine, though Raëlians recommend a non-contractual agreement between matured sexual partners. In spite of these liberal views of sexuality, the Raëlian Church has attracted some of its priests and bishops from other religions. These views are shared by women who make up a significant minority in Raëlian Church. Some of these women are strong advocates of refinement and erotic sensualism and participate in groups within such as Rael's Girls and the Order of Angels.

Raël founded Clonaid (originally Valiant Venture Ltd Corporation) in 1997, but then handed it over to a Raëlian bishop, Brigitte Boisselier, in 2000. The company claimed in 2002 that an American woman underwent a standard cloning procedure that led to the birth of her new daughter Eve (b. December 26, 2002). Although few believe the claim, it nonetheless attracted national authorities, mainstream media, and young adults to look further into the Raëlians' cult status. The use of the swastika in its original logo halted Raëlian requests for territory in Israel, and later Lebanon, for establishing a Third Temple, despite the creation of a new logo without the swastika. The Raëlians have officially revived the logo with its original meaning as a symbol of peace.

Raëlians believe that all life on Earth, humans included, was created scientifically by human-like extra terrestrials that are more scientifically advanced than us, called the Elohim, using DNA synthesis and genetic engineering and thus believe in intelligent design. Throughout the ages, Elohim sent different prophets: Moses, Jesus, Buddha, and many others to guide humanity and to prepare us for the future. Largely left to progress on our own, until the time of the Apocalypse/Revelation when Elohim would send their final messenger and reveal the truth for all to know. Raëlians desire to spread that message and work towards building an Embassy where we can officially welcome the Elohim back, and for the first time in human history, actually understand them for who they are, instead of worshiping them as gods, as our primitive ancestors did.

    Sincerely Evelyne,
    From the Raelian religion.

If you wanna be a Raelian, you first have to read the book "Intelligent design:message from the designers" by Rael, which you can download for free from this website www.rael.org

And then, if you believe what is written in the book, you then need to attend one of our free Raelian seminars in your area.

    Sincerely, Evelyne.
