    Your youth explains alot. A whole lot.
    When Carter was president, the world did not respect us and that culminated in the Tehran Hostage Crisis. Reagan did much to restore our prestige (I know, an uncool word today).
    As to Lyndon Johnson, you need to read more about him. Like you, I did not think much of him til I did some reading up.
    And you're going to base your entire esteem of Jackson on a single incident?
    The only one I openly agree with at the bottom of your list is George W. Bush
