RFID is going to be in everyones driver's license starting in 2008. There is no avoiding it unless the people decide something needs to be done.

I think its really scary what the world is coming to and how much we are really being monitered. Maybe biblical prophecy, maybe not. I don't know for sure. But when you give bar codes to high school students, tap phones, and issue RDIF tags then the government goes a little to far. I feel like we're being branded like cattle. All of these new "protective" policies are doing nothing but restricting us. I dont think Im ready to trade freedom for protection. Not at all.

Something similar is being done in many other countries, would this mean
    a global monitoring ????

    A little bit scary now.

    i don' t have a drivers liscense!

if it were the mark of the beast that would signfy end times..that would mean peace on earth at the hands of one worldly man...none of that is going on with so much turmoil so I would not see it as that bad..though it is still creepy.

Nothing seems bad to people who have been subliminally programed to accept it.

good for you there are so many reasons to do so! as I stated in another topic:

These idiots who want to implent these ideas never think of the implications. As we become more open and dependent on computerized technology, this information is more and more sensitive and risks being hacked into. think identity theft is a problem now?

Maybe it cuts down on money related theft and crime at first..but like a virus often does, it evolves to withstand the antibotic..criminals will do likewise. This won't hinder theft in the long run. With the ID card act, the govt' is striving for centerlized power and to take away the power of the individual states.

and who's to say this makes things more convienent? a crash in the computer system could screw this all up. Isn't that where the information ultimately is?..god forbid the storage is not totally secure. Will these chips last throughout the years? normal wear and tear could make scanning them difficult, and thus, buying food and items more of a pain. and couldn't there be agents (for lack of a better word) ingested through eating food or taking medicine that could cause a negative reacion in respect to the chip? maybe you have a violent reaction because you are allergic to the materials within the chip...or the materials in the chip seep into your body and nervous system. A violent inpact on the area of the arm where the chip is, work related, ect. could screw up the chip. computers fail, the aren't 100% reliable..this chip will fail in some people.

plus there is no limit to the abuse and use of these chips. I mean, if the gov't taps our phone calls, they could just as easily use this as a tracking device. and it would be more subtle than wire tapping (easier to disguise), to the point where people would not know. how can you restrict this chip to the purposes it is said to serve, simply medical records and money...YOU CAN NOT! It is scary, the most threatening thing in our countries history because of the lack of acknowleging the problems.

Its one thing to have faith in mankind, dude. But its a completely diffrent idea to have faith in those who govern man kind. Im pretty excited about the future but sometimes I like to sit back and wonder if things are going the way they should to ensure that things work out for all of us.

i agree with all of this, man! Computers do nothing for me but provide mindless entertainment every once in a while, a television that i can interact with. i think the internet and computers are alot like television, for all the good things they do they give bad the bad almost 2fold.

As for the chips, I completely agree. If the goverment really wanted to put listening devices on us and follow our every movment, they would have been doing it for years now, patriot act or no. They can do it without us detecting it. Im just worried that the world will turn into some kind of world that Orwell predicted in the last century. I dunno, I just like to keep my eyes open about things. I dont trust those who are in power. and i think its right not to.

So because they haven't yet means they don't want to? They have been talking about this for YEARS in their publications and they do plan on implementing it. I seriously hope most Americans are not this gullible, but I am afriad they are. Look around you at the system that is being set up to do exactly that!

Watch this short 5 minute clip from the new documentary America: Freedom to Fascism.

no, what im saying is that i think they've already implemented these devices. american street corners are being watched. i'd say im not gullible at all because i like to keep my eyes open for this kind of thing. i think the system has already been set up, but they're just expanding the system.

Morning All, here's my 2 cents...any of us that have cell phones could already be (already are?) under surveillance. They are equipped with global positioning systems, reportedly for the purpose of being able to locate someone that has an emergency and has dialed 911.

As far as these implanted microchips...not just no, but hell no! I come from a family of gardeners, I'm making plans for the future feeding of my family now, so I'm not gonna need to buy with "the chip". And medicine...I'll be going back to nature for mine, most of our "drugs" are derived in some part from plants anyway. I feel it's time for all of us to remember from our ancestors how to survive on Mother Earth. If we start now, we might not be hungry later.

I work in a hospital, and everything we do is on computer. Our doctors have already started to chart patient's histories on computers. It's a good idea to have a paper copy of your medical record for your family, just in case. I think the system will crash sometime, they're just machines after all.

It's kinda off topic, but I heard a good quote in a movie last night, "The Day After". After WW2 (I think), Albert Einstien said something like "I don't know what weapons they'll fight WW3 with, but I know what WW4 will be...sticks and stones." (not the exact wording, but y'all get the idea). For me, this rings true. I feel the change coming, we'll be going back to a more primitive way of life, where goods and services are bartered for other goods and services, not the ethereal "money" most of us use now. It won't be easy...but in some ways, it feels like a breath of fresh air.

So, I for one, will be on guard to anyone trying to implant me or my family with a chip, it just ain't gonna happen.

    Peace to all

okay while I admit that my first response was purposely over simplified and admit I was wrong for doing so, I have demonstrated knowledge of this topic here and in another thread. while my one failing MAY be that I am overly optimistic, I do not want a tag and tell people about the possibility of being tagged, because a lot of people do not know. I admit to giving simple responses to subjects I know about (more than I let on) for the sake of joking about them to make them sound less severe, for myself. I admit that though and work on it all the time. Still, I resent the sheep comment because you SEEM (could be wrong) to dish out insults more than anything and tend to acknowledge a poor post much more than a good post.

From someone who's looked into RFID technology for our company, let me clear up some stuff.

One, the original article is from 2003. In the article, they claim that the holy grail for using them is $.05 per chip. Well, they're there now. And for most companies, that's still too expensive. And we're not talking about putting one per package, but just one on a pallet of product to track that pallet.

Second, the ability to read them with much accuracy is just not there yet. For us to mount a reader over a dock door so the chip on a pallet could be read as the pallet passed through the door and went on a tractor trailer, the best any company could guarantee was an 85% rate. If any company out there took a 15% loss of product, well, they wouldn't be taking it for very long before they were out of business.

If you want to get riled up about something and the government's ability to track a person, you don't have to think so high tech. Get upset over the cameras at the intersections and in so-called "high crime areas". Today, that's the real threat to your personal liberties.
