Okay, so I am usually the one who is helping people out, and giving out good information and such. Here is my question. I had 5 Oxy 80's left today. My normal dose, either oral or intranasal with these, is 4 80's, or 320mg of Oxycodone. That is at once. (No, I am not dicksizing, I am simply telling this because you need this information to help me. I am not proud of having to take this much, but I am a CP patient, and I am prescribed to these meds, and have been...so tolerance has shot through the roof.) Anyways....I took my normal 4 around 3 hours ago. 320mg. Now...I know Oxycodone has an extremely short half-life....around 3 hours, maybe 4 hours. So with that said...in around an hour....it's safe to say that I should really only have 160mg still active and circulating in my body, correct? I mean....that is how half-life works, right? So...I really have never gone over 320mg at once. I've been at this dose (which by the way, does NOT get me high at all, if it does, I get maybe a 5-10 min. euphoric buzz, then it's gone) but I have done probably 500mg in a 12 hour period. I took these intransal (I know, I am the poster-child for Oral Oxycodone, but I usually have Roxicodone, and it's much easier to take those by mouth, because I don't have to defeat any time-release, like I do with Oxycontin) So, my question is. With my tolerance...of 320mg, and to remind you, that doesn't even get me a buzz anymore really....and since it's been around 3 hours...do you think it will be okay for me to IV this last 80mg I have left? Based on half-life (again, if that is how it REALLY works) I should only have about 160mg left in me. So another 80mg is only going to put me up to 240mg...a bit less then my normal dose, right? I guess I am asking....is if anyone knows if this is really how half-life works. Because if it is, I know I am safe.....
I'm really not sure about the half-life thing. It's always confused me, and I don't want to give you the wrong information. Have you checked Erowid?

Perhaps he should also ask his doctor about shooting the shit too, huh? Where did he go, anyway? I hate it when people ask a question that could have serious ramifications and then disappear for the rest of the day, it makes me worry.

U4IA, shooting a whole 80 on top of enough OC to kill to people? You can't just split it in half and shoot 40 at a time, twice? Would be safer wouldn't it? I mean, like I couldn't even imagine a whole 80 hitting me almost instantaneously. Better be safe than sorry if you value your life, no?
U4ia.. Half-life is approximately how long it takes half the drug to get out of your system. Oxy stays in your system for 3-5 days, but half of it is out in 3-4 hours. It just takes a lot longer for the remaining half to be processed and eliminated, as the way half-life works, is say it has a half life of 4 hours. That means if you took 320mg then... T + 4hrs = 160mg left T + 8hrs = 80mg T + 12hrs = 40mg T + 16hrs = 20mg T + 20hrs = 10mg T + 24hrs = 5mg T + 28hrs = 2.5mg And so on... Does that make sense? Anyway, its safe (safe as possible anyway) for you to IV an 80 if you so choose, as the drug is no longer 'active' after 4 hours, but is still in your system being processed. Hope this helps.
i didn't even know that you IV some of your meds U4ia. aren't you worried about the binders and fillers you're injecting in your veins?
Of course. I hardly IV. I would say no more then twice a month, and sometimes less then that...because IV Oxycodone is basically worthless. I only really do it when I have a short amount left and I want to get the most out of it. I've IV'ed 160mg at once and barely got a rush. So 80mg IVed is nothing for me to worry about...especially if I take into the consideration the half-life. I am as safe and sterile as one could possibly be when IV'ing anything. Still doesn't keep me completely safe...but you know what I mean.
You should be okay if you are just shooting 80mg after waiting four hours since your last dose of 320mg. I have never been prescribed Oxycontin but I was taking a similar dose (around 350mg a day) for about six to nine months and there were many times that I would shoot a pill shortly after taking three or four of the 80mg pills. I am sure you have already done it, but anyways, GO FOR THE GOLD! This thread is a perfect example of how to utilize the resources that this forum and the people in it offer...U4ia asked a question, waited on the answer, and then took what he could from the advice given. Most people would have posted something, got angry over what someone said they should do, and then did exactly the opposite of what was suggested as safe and reasonable.
