I haven't tried any (non-prescribed) natural "pharmas" since my college days where I was big time into hashish. Anyway, 15 years later I regret not getting the chance to try physcadelics. I've known about Salvia for many years. When you end up with in a profressional career in a white-color situation these kinds of activities sometimes slip. A few years ago I bought some tincture and tried it with no success. I quit smoking anything, cigs included, about 8 years ago. I'm somewhat health consious that way. Well, last week I decided that taking a hit of Salvia on a water pipe once in a while ain't the same thing as smoking half a pack a day so I said to hell with it, I'll try to smoke Salvia this time around. So yesterday, I bought a water pipe from a head shop, 1 gram of Purple Sticky 5x, a high powered, high heat "wind proof" lighter, and some metal pipe mesh screens for the bowl. In the evening I took 1mg of klonopin, which is an anti-anxiety med, usually prescribed now instead of valium. Since I was going to be alone I thought this would be wise. So I laid everything out I thought I would need and packed a bowl with a pinch of Salvia. Now keep in mind of two things. first, I have not smoked anything since I quit cig smoking 8 years ago, and second I have a cold! BUT, I still remember how to use a water pipe and knew (somewhat) what I was doing. Finally, I lit the bowl, kept my finger on the carb hole, inhaled, let my finger off and tried taking the smoke into my lungs and holding it. Nothing happened. I repeated this a couple of times. I started to feel a bit intoxicated, and un-coordinated, maybe slightly confused, but all sensations similar to being drunk. Ok to hell with it, I packed two more bowls and now with some practice I was able to get and hold more smoke in my lungs. I could feel something, my arms began to become rubbery, but I went into coughing fits! I couldn't keep the smoke in partly because I'm out of practice and this damn cold! So in the end I'd say I will try it again when this cold goes away and maybe I'll make sure the water has been iced before I put it the pipe. What I am wondering is just how close I got to actually taking off? The biggest sympton I felt was my arms starting to feel like rubber, but I don't know where that fits in on the steps that lead up to a real trip on Salvia. Thanks for any advice.
salvia is pretty intense man. try holding in your hits longer. the longer you hold in your hits the harder you will trip. also does it say 5x on your purple sticky pack? because mind said 80x but it was only really 20x extract. check out their website, for some reason the x's on the package aren't corresponding the the actual number of the extract.
Your medication may have interfered, but keep in mind that 30% of the population is immune to the effects of salvia. Based on your description, you are one of those people...your kappa opiod receptors are arranged differently.
I don't about that, never seen or heard of detailed studies. It was purple stick 20x, which as you all know is actually 5x. When I did finally really get a lung full I couldn't hold it, partly from the irritation from having a cold and partly, just out of practice. I will try it again. I think the key is getting back to the point where I can hold a lungfull of smoke... I had just been wondering if anything, particularly, the rubbery arms feeling was at least the start of the symtomology. People get discourged. Thanks.
well it's different for everyone, but that is a start. you could practise smoking other stuff first so you can hold a lungfull easier.
You definitely need to get a hold of an extract higher than 5, preferably somewhere around 10x or 15x for your first time. The rubbery feelings in your arms/legs is what I got my very first time smoking salvia and not getting the full effect because I did not hold it in long enough. However, in your case I believe that it is just the extremely low extract. It sounds like you did everything else right.... except the most important part. You MUST have a sitter. It is out of complete necessity. Good luck and be safe. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks EVERYONE, this has all been exactly the advice I was hoping to find. I will try the 10x next time and practice smoking something else when this cold goes away. Only thing I cannot do is get a sitter. I know I absolutely should, but for various reasons this is not something I will be able to have. Given that, the physical environment in which I use Salvia should be such that I don't do myself any harm. Any advice on that is welcome.
just put everything away. you don't want anything out that you could knock over and break. you don't really know what will happen. one time my guitar ended up on the opposite side of the room that i left it on, upside down, and leaning against the wal... i sure as hell didn't move it. i have no idea how that happened.
