It this a concept you feel is a reality? Or do you think it's just make believe? If you do feel it to be happening, is is a reality that you have always accepted as if it were common knowledge? Or did you being to realize over a certain amount of time, hearing from someone you totally trust or reading, or just realizing on your own? If you dont hold it to be real, may I ask, Why not? I understand that there are only 2 possible ways to know reincarnation, through being told by someone who knows and in whom you have no doubt of their word, or through experiencing a glimpse of a past life personally in meditation or insight or inherited memory, etc. I was speaking with a friend Satruday @ 3am about this, and he got SO upset and annoyed that I brought it up (I think because he knows that when I speak my thoughts on the matter ((I feel it to be real)) I can back up my words with experiences I've had and with scriptures, teachings, and history, whereas he has nothing to back his words up with and has nothing to go on other than his own mind), and as I pushed him more and more to get deeper in thought, he kept getting more agrivated, so he tells me "Shut up! I know it in my heart to be a false concept so just shut the fuck up already!" (Mind you, we were tripping on magic mushrooms when this conversation took place  ) Yea, that's what he said. At least he's open minded and has no problem confronting opposition and embracing new concepts with patience
i definitely believe its more likely than not that if there is in fact such a thing as a soul, as i believe there is, that it would move in a cyclical manner true to almost everything else in nature. that said i can't claim to have any firm belief in any other specifics such as karma, perfecting yourself to end the cycle of birth and death, the possibility of choosing how you are born the next time round (a friend of mine believes this), etc. i also cannot be absolutely sure, while living, that this is in fact a "real" phenomenon, but i have a strong feeling that it is highly likely. i definitely reject the traditional hindu/buddhist perceptions of karma though. if there is a hierarchy of beings, if there are some beings "holier" than others, i certainly dont think humans are at the top, closest to being divine. we're the most destructive, backward, and meddlesome creature on the planet, and i think one of the very few animals actually capable of evil. i think i believe in reincarnation, and even transferring among the various sorts of creatures, but i dont think that karma and how good you are in one life determines what kind of creature you are in the next.... i dont know though, and dont think i will ever KNOW so long as i'm alive.
Thanks for your opinion Nesta. Yes, I believe that once you have reached a certain level through progression with the Self, or the Soul, that you may at some point be able to chose how and through whom you are birthed into the material plane. Jesus is said to have done this, as well as John the Baptist, and Buddha. Plus all sorts of Guru's are said to have been here for the sole purpose of guiding others, and that they have also chosen to be here and allow God to work through them
May I be so bold as to ask you why? Can you explain to us what your belief is and how you came to accept whatever it is? Sorry, I mean only if you feel like sharing Mr. Green Shrutis: The Revealing Science of God can be seen as an ever-opening flower in which simple truths emerge examining the complexities and magic of the past and how we should not forget the song that has been left to us to hear. The knowledge of God is a search, constant and clear. Dawn of light lying between a silence and sold sources, Chased amid fusions of wonder, in moments hardly seen forgotten, Coloured in pastures of chance dancing leaves cast spells of challenge, Amused but real in thought, we fled from the sea whole. Dawn of thought transfered through moments of days undersearching earth Revealing corridors of time provoking memories, disjointed but with purpose, Craving penetrations offer links with the self instructors sharp And tender love as we took to the air, a picture of distance. Dawn of our power we amuse redescending as fast as misused Expression, as only to teach love as to reveal passion chasing Late into corners, and we danced from the ocean. Dawn of love sent within us colours of awakening among the many Won't to follow, only tunes of a different age. As the links span our endless caresses for the freedom of life everlasting.
relayer great thread man ..........i had a discussion about re-incarnation with a very wise and spiritual person a couple of years ago "this person suggested to me that birth marks are from a past life (wounds) .......certainly makes you thinks man .
i think we all make up something bigger, i think universe isnt just an endless space with stars and planets, i think it makes up something bigger, which makes up something else bigger, which makes something even bigger, going on endlessly. like how cells make up everything, we could be those cells, just more complex. the nucleus might not just be the controll point but the sun or something, i think everything was made by coinsidence. i think our planet earth is just one of many many more, i also think it was created by accident. people say its too much of a coincidence- but it is, when there are millions of stars, one of them turning out right is not a miracle, imo god is aload of bs. the mars, saturn, jupiter etc are examples we have discovered, why are they not suitable for humans? isnt it a miracle?, no because when u walk through a field of grass you might miss 10 000 ants and different bugs, bu you might eventually step on one, its not fate, its chance. i think religion is what people come up with when bored, also the fact that theres so much of it should be enough to suggest a fat bastard attention whoring by making up phrophicies and different books about divine spirits. until i see jesus walk on water in my local swimming pool, an elephant man do magic, or god come down on earth and do afew miracles himself, id rather believe something that doesnt manipulate me to do something out of fear of going to hell or never living again. reincarnation seems like something people wish to be true because theyre affraid of leaving the world behind. im pretty sure if we humans still survive our future generations would laugh at this bs just like i laugh when cavemen worshipped fire, or people were assumed witches and burned and drowned out of fear/boredom. humans are created by spern breaking through into an egg, what you reckon when we die we beome a sperm? and we live again. seems like a comfort when affraid of death, were all dieing, som faster than others, but id rather die with dignity that pray for forgiveness for getting pissed and slapping some whore or something. id rather die accepting my end than talk about how i will come back as a puppy or a chestnut or w/e. sometimes i feel so lame for ebing born at this time, when everyone is incredibly stupid and trapped on this magma filled rock, i used to wish i were born in like 500 or 1000 yars when hopefully space travel was possible with many new galaxys with new species and new ways of existance. sometimes i think im the only one who can realise life for what it is, just simplelife, no point to it- just survival. now its more advanced, you can work, entertain, and do w/e.
i have a big birthmark on my neck, im pretty sure its just a mark from birth, or when i was still developing in the fetus. unless ur suggesting i was a deer and was shot in the neck with a country rifle and died, i dont see your point. im sorry if u get offended but this is rediculous
Paul, this is a beautiful vision this person has shared with you, and which you in turn have shared with us. I honestly, have never thought about this! Thank you And Mr. Green, thank you for judging his idea as rediculous, simply because you do not agree with it. At least you are here, to grace us with your wonderful measurements of the value of our worth in visualising life's energy recycling processes What would we do without ya?
Humans are not 'created' by sperm breaking into an egg, they are 'born', "through", this physical process. But I ask you then, Where, exactly, does the actual manifestation of Life Energy that grows into a physical body, which inherits a physical mental perception of awareness through conciousness? Where, really, does LIFE come from, the initial spark that embodies the embryo? Because I have a son, and I was there for the girls whole pregnancy and birth, so I know what goes on physically. But, again, where does the LIFE come from? Babies are not created from or by us, they are only born 'through' us, my friend. Namaste ~
offended certainly not ........deer oh dear you could have been a human who was shot in the neck man " as for not not seeing my point mr. greenxxx i could " nt honestly give a xxxx..........rediculous ? would you care to explaine ? before trying to shoot someones thoughts down with your egolologist i dont know or comprehend what your on about so therefore its rediculous ..........maybe it is in your eyes and soul ............but who are you ? please dont be offended .
relayer like i said great thread man .......... certainly opens the doors of our souls "maybe we have all lived many lifetimes :spliff: look within and you shall find peace instead of war ..........cheers man
~ NAMASTE ~ Yes my friend, no matter what we hold to be true or untrue, the actual realization of peace of mind, body, and Self (soul) comes only from within. Thank you Paul!
Honestly, my jury is still out on reincarnation. I think it is quite possible that it is true. The main reason that I think it could be true is that actual age and mental/spiritual age seem to me to be such separate things. I know teenagers who are so pure and wise, and I know old men who despite their supposed wisdom through experience still act like bratty little children. On the other hand, I have read convincing arguments that say there is nothing eternal about us and that we are in truth reborn each instant a completely different person. This also makes a lot of sense to me. Which is true? I can't say right now. Maybe one day I will have a strong belief either way, but right now I am not so concerned about the specifics. I know that I am evolving spiritually and that through liberation, my soul will finally be at peace. Whether this comes at the end of a long chain of incarnations or not, I can't say, but the goal is the same either way. Reincarnation is a great concept to believe in because it encourages spiritual progress and humility - it takes many many lifetimes to get this gig right But, I also think great spiritual progress is possible without belief in reincarnation. Reincarnation is a concept, and while it is a better concept than just about any other out there, I'm trying not to get too attached to concepts these days. Just being
Nah, i dont believe in reincarnation, but it very well could be true. The ones that dont believe in a God/higher being, i want you to do something. Think about the human brain, analyze it, think..HOW could something to amazing, just be created by billions of years/randomly? I mean, im only speaking for myself here, but when i myself analyze certain processes such as birth(like relayer said)..you cant just think of birth itself, you need to think of the ACT of birth, the miraculous way about it. You need to look at it in a higher way, on a different level.
Umbilical cord. But anyway, I will never believe in god, reincarnation, Santa, etc. because there is nothing to actually prove it. Sure, maybe you feel that it is true, but I think it is just chemicals in your brain making you feel that way. Science cannot explain any of your ideas and neither can anything else that I consider credible. Maybe you've had personal experiences and know people who have that make you feel like there is this big, greater purpose out there, but you've also mentioned taking hallucinogenic drugs, and I get the same feeling when I am on drugs, but when I come down, I realize it is all emotions and has no basis in reality outside of one's imagination.
There definately somthin after this life. As for what, who knows. I believe we're all an experiment in a lab somwhere as a disease that destroys all life and good on any planet the human race virus is released. Us stoners are the anti bodies! Ha how twated am I?
thank you dude ....its a pleasure having a good discussion man another thing that i think could be connected to re-incarnation is a feeling many people have had that on going to a place for the first time in their now physical life have that inner feeling and sense that they have been their before .
i voted reincarnation i just don't think that our life completely ends when we die. i'm not sure if theres a heaven and hell so i just lean more towards reincarnation.
