Was surprisingly respectful, based on bob maher's typical work (until the closing monologue, that was just like "seriously?")
I can't believe I havn't heard of this already. I love anything that pokes fun at religion. I wonder when it is being released here.
if it's the one I think it is it actually pisses me off because a fucking moron I spoke with a few months ago decided he was an expert and knew all there was to know because he saw a documentary about pete, made me want to beat the guys head in with an old school tape machine and, andrew, you will probably quite like it I think it is funny how the reasons he outlines for him eschewing faith are almost identical for my reasons for being a quaker instead of a mainstream christian.
There are two quaker churches in Adelaide, one in North Adelaide and one in Burnside, but I can never go to mass because I work every sunday. Do you know what Quaker masses entail?
The bible has been fucked up by people, and so your faith is based on personal experiences with god, yes, there is biblical influence, but it is not some end all be all, because, clearly, it is flawed as a book. still christians, but, less dependant on the king james version catholic church approved manipulation trick business.
a programmed service is quite typical, songs, sermon, etc. and unprogrammed service is sitting quietly, waiting to see if you feel spiritually lead to act, and most of it is the examination to see if urges you feel are inspired by the divine, or your own leanings.
I want to see it, not even sure if it's out in Australia yet, I'll check the video store. I'm a big fan of Bill Maher, I tend to agree with pretty much everything he says.
The paradox yet again! How are your own learnings in any way not inspired by the divine? Unless of course, you believe God is not within existence but beyond it.
