That movie was seriously depressing. I've only seen it once and it was a while ago, but the mother was on diet pills. I dont know what ones, but I guess they're like speed or something? I dunno. The rest of them were riding the H train from what I remember.
oh that movie is sooo sad! i love it though, i bought it on DVD a few weeks ago.. still have to watch it again though.
I adore Requiem....it's so devastating, but it's beautifully devastating at the same time. And the soundtrack - wow, it gives me chills just listening to it, especially 'summer overture'.
heroin is the drug, I know this because I read the book. The book and the movie are perfectly similar. I actually like the movie better because of the music, Requiem means music for the dead. You just don't get that in the book, normally I like the books better, but this is the only case...what an amazing book/movie.
well, the drug that eventually brings the three younger ones down is heroin. However, they indulge in all kinds of drugs. The mother is on speed. I loved this movie. It was beautifully made, moving, and just really made you think. You could very much think of it as a movie in which no one wins, but that's not true. The DRUGS win. And that is completely and totally fascinating...
Yeah, what I found facinating was the way that, in a way, it was a happy ending for some of them... like the mother who thinks her son has visited, the girlfriend who gets another hit...they get what they want, they might be beyond saving, but they are (in a distressing way) happy...
well, i can't really see that any of them got a happy ending... not even close. i was horrified with the closeup of the gangrenous vene... brrr
AMAZING movie. Simply beautiful...so sad tho Brought back bad memories, but most movies do... and yeah, they were doing herion. but the mothers pills had speed in them (hence all the freaking out and cleaning the damn house all nite)
It's my favourite movie of all time. I mean, everything is in it. A good story, great actors, nice filming and an amazing soundtrack. That soundtrack really adds a lot to the movie, it's so beautiful. But yeh, it's a rather depressing movie. But sadness can be beautiful too sometimes..
I guess what i mean is that i think the film showed how happiness can be a hugely subjective thing. I mean, from the outside it looks terrible for sure, but inside their own minds (some of them) got what they desired. And that's usually one way to be happy.
