    Happy new year to everyone,

What can we do to make the world a better place in 2006? No matter how small they are, if just one person does them then they'll count.

Here's just a couple from me:

    - Buy phosphate-free dishwashing liquid, dishwashing powder and laundry powder.

    - Buy environmentally friendly toilet paper.

    - If you're not responsible for the weekly shopping then persuade your parents to at least try the above products.

    - Water your garden with the grey water from your washing machine (provided you're using phosphate-free products).

    Over to you...

Stop buying animal products from regular grocery stores and only get them from health food stores so they're organic and free-range.

I wanted to grow some of my own food this year, but unfortunately, it's against the rules in my housing complex to have a vegetable garden. I'm only allowed to grow flowers and other decorative plants. Maybe I can get away with an indoor herb garden.

    Great thread :)

Switch of the light when leaving a room. Don't use your car when there is a railway line.

    i recycle my toilet paper

after i use it i put it in a box, at the end of the week i get the box and i wash the toilet paper, hang it up to dry, then i put it back in the bathroom for later use.

hahaha no way that'd be gross, i don't even know how you could wash toilet paper anyways it'd fall apart. but yeah all those ideas are great for tryin not to pollute our environment, that's what we need

This doesn't really belong here but I though it'd be interesting since we're all talking about laundry. I read somewhere that these scientists in Australia found out that if u take the oxygen out of water in a certain way you get this super cleaning liquid that's much better than any other product.

Each individual should do there part and stop consuming "mass" amounts of food, resources etc...

I feel from my observations; people are led to believe that more is better!
Yeah the more you spend, the more they produce and the more money they make form our emotionally brainwashed individual views. Women especially are effected by emotional brainwashing.

There are wants and needs everyone seems to need to convince others that that they need this or that! All because of TV programing/media/fads/profiling etc... these last 45+ years;Toss the TV out the window, especially the TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah; welcome to the united slaves of America I.E. where you are a slave to the roof over your head, heat, food in your tummy, the GAS for you car etc... most folks are very dependent on theses and have to Work the many, many years, believing to hopefully retire with at least as much money as they made while working for 40 years. Although the USA is better then some places in this very small world we share! with the advent of the Internet we may change this, hopefully!

Remember if you only live by needs and not wants you may be able to retire sooner but world programing and your emotions led you otherwise!

    Let the flamings begin;
I do my part do you.
    Namaste anyhow=D

Right on Orange Sunshine Vet, you got it!!! Throw out the tv, then sit down and figure out what you need and what do I really want to do. I'm going to try to be more generous with my time and resources to help others, this year.

This is a great thread and i'm excited to be able to post because this year my main resolution was to "be a better me" which includes things like: learning to drum (i'm getting my drum tomorrow), be more environmentally conscious (recycle more, garden more, spend more time outside), go barefoot more (be in touch with the earth), do more fun things (go to festivals, camping, etc.)

I've always been a treehugger/hippie etc but this year i'm going to increase my activism and awareness! It's going to be a great year!!
