Why people are scared from retards and why the fuck are they allways so bad with them?I mean they r human beings,they have feelings 2.Why everybody are scared from those who are different?There is one boy with a problmes like this in my school and it`s horrible when i see how others are treating him!Once i tried to talk with him...just to see what a person is and the poor boy ran away from me,coz he was scared!!!I felt so bad about him!Nobody undurstand those people and it`s sad...if u just think about it...

No offense to you whatsoever, I mean, I can see that you feel badly about the poor boy, but calling him a "retard" is degrading towards the poor fellow.
i knew one once in school. He was in my classroom and to tell you the truth everyone was nice to him but there were ones that were scared of him, i dont understand why. He's a great kid. It also bothers me when people with dissabilities are treated badly. that's seriously sucks, as u said, they're also human beings.

there was this one boy at the sports camp i worked at this summer. he had some sort of developmental problem and the other kids would laugh and make fun of him. so one day i see a few kids blatantly laughing at this kid, so i confront the 3 kids laughing. i didn't yell at them, but i did ask them why they were laughing and making fun of him and i was stern about it. one of the kids actually changed, i got him to realize that it was wrong to make fun and laugh at this kid. i tried getting through to the other 2 kids, but they weren't listening, but that 1 kid who changed his views and realized that it was wrong, i was proud of him. that was probably my biggest accomplishment at the sports camp. because then he got others to stop laughing and making fun of this kid.

that's correct... most people are scared of unusual things or behaviour, and since they act differently, think differently and most of the time talk differently that scares some ppl.
You know, if you read the back of some paint cans it says "Drying may be retarded" I laughed when I read that. It's a peer thing...most kids can't accept ANYTHING or ANYONE that is different. A lot of kids are like that. It's not unusual.
One important (and probably controversial) note is that we as a species are interfering with evolution. With our medical science, doctors, medicines, etc. are keeping those alive who shouldn't be. It's called natural selection for a reason, being that only the strong survive. At our rate, we will grow less as a species. Some US States are on the right track and are forcing mandatory sterilization of retarded or metally handicapped individuals in order to "purify" the gene pool, by keeping those individuals from reproducing. I'm glad they're making some progress, I know it's about time.
My boyfriend works at a place where he teaches mentally handicapped adults. They range in age from 21-50. He teaches them math, science, history and cooking. It's a wonderful experience for him because he has the heart and patience to deal with them daily. He even goes with a group every Monday to teach them how to ski. They are no different then anyone else. They didn't ask to be put in the bodies they have or ask for the handicapp they have. They are just like us but need help with the little things in life. People just have a hard time accepting people who are different then themselves. But I always ask the people that poke fun at handicapped people "What if you were born like that? - they didn't have the choice" Learn to appreciate peoples differences!
That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Why should we sterilize those who are mentally handicapped? And how do these doctors know what's "mentally handicapped"? What? An IQ test? So if 52 is mentally handicapped...someone who has a 51...they'll be "sterilized"? That's ridiculous. PURIFYING THE GENE POOL????? Uh...can we say NAZI?
I agree. And I wasn't being mean about it, just didn't go into great detail, but here it is: Yes, people are afraid of what they don't understand because it bring out their insecurities. I will admit that I am afraid of something that I don't understand, but I don't treat people differently because they are what the world calls "different." I know if I were "different", I wouldn't want to be treated as such...we are all human.
