Reversed "roles", and more... Don't respond to cause a havoc.

The following is merely my thought regarding the recent certain situations. My intention here is simply to get it out of my system so, if anyone reads this, PLEASE DO NOT start arguments. I ask everyone who reads this and wants to reply to be mature and respectful.

Also, I find the nature of this thread to be appropriate since this forum is about "random thoughts", and the following paragraphs should never be considered as flaming or a display of disrespect towards other members. Should anyone find what I'm about to say offensive, accept my apologies.

So, I've been on these forums for a little while now.... And there is something I've noticed. I've noticed that this whole "free speech" deal isn't all that's cracked up to be. In fact, when somebody says something "unorthodox", so to speak, the majority seems to favor the "conventional", so-called "normal", or more precisely, "societally-accepted" methods of living over something that may involve risks but pursuing so may also lead to true happiness.

Another thing is that, at least from what I've found, many of the so-called "minors" seem to be more mature than many "adults" here. Sure, young people may say something that a lot of "adults" might find irritating, but the thing I see that really bugs me is how some of these so-called "adults" are making such immature, irresponsible, offensive, ignorant posts. It perfectly explains where young people learn to post offensive comments.

There is also some contradicting views that I've noticed. As far as I know, people on these forums talk about what are otherwise considered as "illegal". People talking about marijuana smoking is one example. Many here seem to openly admit that they smoke pot, and it doesn't seem to be a big deal at all. I understand some countries have more lenient policies regarding the use of marijuana, but I also know there are people here who come from countries where simply having pot in their private possession, without "dealing", or growing, may still be severely punished.

And people still talk about it and, as far as I've seen so far, most have been totally OK with the whole idea, and some even go as far as to post pictures of them actually smoking the damned thing, or the plant they are actually growing, or whatever. Definite proofs that these people smoke marijuana, and some even grow it at home. And people don't seem to mind.

When people DID have a problem with something, that was over something they said was "illegal", and all of the sudden I saw quite clearly that some of these people are, in fact, contradicting. It seems to me that many are OK with pot smoking, but not the other illegal stuff, even though that "other stuff" in itself essentially is nowhere as harmful as smoking grass.

So here I am, a member on the Hip Forums, and I'm now wondering whether this community is actually for me or not. I've interacted with nice people, and I've received kind words from them. That much I'm grateful about. But I also see a lot of verbally aggressive people here who attack the...for the lack of a better word, "non-conventionalists". Having been under the impression that this community is about peace and anti-war attitude, to tell the truth, I've been a little disappointed.

I still think these forums are really great. It's just that I've begun to think maybe they aren't for me. They may work perfectly for other people, but for me, I have no idea...

I dunno. Sometimes I hide beers in the toilet water tank so I have a few when everyone else runs out.

you do that too.. I find it more efficient sometimes though to hide it in the actual toilet and throw a roll of toilet paper in there, they will be too paranoid that the toilet is clogged with crap to even look in there...yeah

well, i assume you are talking about the fact that some people made a big deal about underage girls showing pictures of themselves nakid or partly nakid... and although i do agree with you that some of the "older" members acted completly immature... (hey, get used to it.. there are a lot of immature people here)....

the DIFFERENCE between people talking about the fact that they smoke pot or whatever... compared to minors posting pictures like that on here, is that only one of the two could put the website at a risk. (although since the server is in amsterdam, i dont think it would anyways)..... still though it COULD get individual members in trouble even if they dont know what they are clicking on. (although HIGHLY unlikely)

I am not sure that I am fully aware of the problem, Is it that you can't stand that alot of the members claim to smoke pot? Is it that we don't have as left wing views as you'd like (although going on and on about how much we like pot then calling us "socially accepted" thinkers is a bit contradictive)? or is it as interval said, that we don't allow child porn?

If so, People smoke pot get over it. There are plenty of un-politicaly correct views and the fact this website doesnt allow child porn isnt an infringement on free speach it is just the responsible (and i believe morally) correct thing to do.
