People keep saying they think my dreads are a mess and skanky and said i should have got it "properly" done... and i keep telling them i've done it to as close to properly as i could get and they should check their facts. But a number of people thing they are awful looking and think the neat and tidy sallon oens are much nicer. I am very proud of my locks, i've watched them grow and they continue to change and suprise me all the time. People don't seem to get the excitment and fun behind getting dreads the right way any more. I feel flustered and annoyed when i get told mine are a mess and look awful! I don't listen to them, i still love them very much and i like that they are making their own messy way in the world. But... i'm sad that people have completely lost the plot when it comes to dreads! People can do dreads the way they like, but they shouldn't riducal another persons dreads, specially when they are done more right than theres. Its plain mean!
Aww *hugs*, sorry your taking so much guff chica Don't pay any attention to that crap. Your dreadies are beautiful and who are they to say which way is "proper"? Dreading techniques are as individual as each person who sport them. The kinks and loose hairs that come along with dreads are, in my option, what makes them so interesting. I love each and every one of my loopies and kinks. Keep doing exactly what you're doing and keep on loving your dreads. They look wonderful!
I don't get much regular greif about it.. but it kinda compiles over time and its not making me love them any less, i just feel like how silly are they sometimes...
dandy your dfreads are some of the most beautiful ive seen (and not just cos i helps create them) they are full of love. i dont know if you remember mine at that stage. they were exactly the same, mostly fluff and looking scruffy. i had the same problem. whats its your role to do is educate these people that girl with the annoyingf salon dreads, tell her in a kind and informative way that wax will make her hair mouldy. theyll be jealouse in a year time when your dreads are mature and natural abnd thairs are skinny little runty wax tubes
hahahahaha.. i don't mean anyone in particular at all... its a general vibe a get from some of the people who ask me. hehe.. i don't really mind all that much, i just kinda think people are awful silly for some of the things they say. i know mine are and will always be beautifully healthy and happy!
People who make comments about your dreads are ignorant and they don't understand what dreads are about. From a Buddhist perspective, develop compassion for their ignorance. When they make comments about your dreads, remember their dreads could easily end up all nasty from mold, like Fleassy said. Maybe the image of shit growing out of their dreads will help you to not take them so seriously. They don't know better. Poor kids! Peace & Love PS: I think your dreads look good from your picture. Dreads are supposed to be unique and different. If all dreads on all people looked alike, they would lose some of their appeal, the uniqueness of each and every one. That's why I think dreads are so awesome; every last one is special! Just like us!

Hehehhehe, i don't hate them or even act negatively towards them. Its more amusement i think i react with and a little bit of shyness because i could talk for england about how much i love mine. They tend to look a bit bamused and we talk about something else other than dreads. I think generally if they listen they end up seeing my point of view, but those who don't i have no real time for. Hehehe, i don't really mind all that much people do as they want. I don't take it personally at all. They should be different, thats exactly the point

Hehehe i did my friends dread up 2 summers ago, she jsut met this one girl who said her hair look like shit and sticks.... oh goodness. i'm not going to tell you not to take them seriousley cause u said you dont already. and i think you know what to do.
