Me and a couple of friends were discussing where we should go for spring break and somebody suggested Canada. I have never been to Canada, and the only thing I really know about it is the drinking age is 19 or something so we'd be able to drink haha. We definitely want to stop by Niagra Falls on our way there.. and will probably stay somewhere close to the NY/Canada border I'm guessing. So if you Canadians in the stoners lounge are from somewhere around there, and can give me some sweet places to go/things to do, i'd appreciate it!
umm.. make sure everyone that goes with you has a clean record.. absolutely no seeds.. stems.. leaf matter.. keep the papers at home... i say this because 1.. you are likely not to get into canada even if you have a pass due parking ticket.. or any minor offense on your record.. also.. one of my friends went up to canada once.. they found a pack of papers in the car and they asked them what they were for.. they took them in and analyzed them.. found a minute trace of marijuana on the edge of the pack and didnt allow them to enter.. board partol are dicks
Hey there! Canadian girl here... The drinking age in Canada is different from province to province, it alternates between 19 and 18 from BC all the way through to the east (although I'm not too sure about the east coast) (It's 19 in Ontario). Southern Ontario is very Americanized, and you'll barely be able to tell the difference between the two. One sweet area of Toronto is the Kenzington Market, and particularly Hot Box Cafe...they have vapourizers available at all the tables! BYOB (bring your own bud!) Definitely hit Niagra Falls!
thanks for the info cosmic elf! the hot box cafe sounds like it would be awesome. @eric: i have quite a record (underages/disorderly conducts) and a couple of my other friends do too... is it REALLY that hard to get into canada? that would really suck dick if we couldn't get in, and drove all that way.
yea.. its not easy.. they really check your record.. i'd maybe call where you plan to enter and make sure you would get in
B.C! especially vancouver. if you go to vancouver go to hemp bc, the store owned by the prince of pot. also do you plan on camping in the canadian wilderness?
ahh thats fucked! what would i say if i called? @weedwacker: BC would be fun, but its a little too far from where i'm at (pennsylvania) i would love to camp in the canadian wilderness! we haven't really had a schedule planned out yet, but thats somethin i'd like to do while i'm there.
bordor patrol isnt all that bad. it depends what you look like, and what your stated reason for entering is. id suggest niagra falls (canadian side- the US side sucks ass), toronto (especially "Yougesterdam"), and if you feel up to it, going for a camping trip in northern ontario or quebec (but its cold in winter)
I've been to KM but keep it on the downlow, don't post all over the internet about it. let's not give popo reason to be interested.
the fuzz already know about it. I don't think they are allowed to enter businesses without warrants though, since it can hurt a business if there is constantly cops harassing customers.
You know Hamilton is only 45 minutes away from the falls But yeah, if your going to be in souther ontario you won't notice a difference at all. So I guess I'm not that Canadian to some people lol..
it doesnt matter what you look like.. when they run your license they'll find out everything they need to know
here's an article for ya: http://www.independenttraveler.com/resources/article.cfm?AID=729&category=35
Joker the board patrols arnt really that bad... Depends on the asshole but ussually canadian border patrol are less douchy than american ones... I only ever get stopped going the american way (three times) but ive been over the canadian border with bud, alcohol, firecrackers (theyre illegal in canada) and alot of other stuff.. It has been about a year since i crossed into the states tho so i dont know... @OP If you want the big city feel Toronto is the way to go.. so much stuff to do there and its close to the border.. but if you want the wilderness experience its not even that much further... I live about 4 hours north of toronto and we have natural parks everywhere which is awesome for camping and im sure you will get a more distict canadian feel the farther you move from the border... W/e your choice
personally i never had a problem getting into canada either.. except for the fact i was nervous and looked at my ID when i was telling the boarder patrol my address and she looks at me and goes "did you need to look at your ID to know where you live?" and i explained to her that i just recently moved to my new address lol.. then my gf at the time.. we had to go inside and take care of some business because she had somehting on her record.. but we managed to cross.. on the way back.. they tore the shit outta my car but i was fine
Yea it really depends... They threw all my luggage out searching me when i was crossing into america just cuz we had a box of oranges in the front seat (that they confiscated) saying that ornages were not alowed to be brought across the border and they would have to search our car to see if we had more.. What a pain in the ass
