    Who's YOUR favorite "Romantic Artist"?

    Mine are:

    #1. Barry White.
#2. Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down Low".
    #3. Dr. Hook.

Not a romantic artist as such, but Mr. Lennon really wrote some sweet stuff! "Woman" is the greatest love song going if you ask me.

...Five minutes or so later Buddy Holly springs to mind as a potential romantic artist! Lyrics wise for me personally but I'm sure some people could find the music their cup of smoochy tea too.

There's gotta be something more, traditional...

    I give up! Elvis?

When I think romance I think A Perfect Circle, The Cure, Deftones, and Underworld. Maybe a little Joy Division, too.

Yeah. He is. In my world at least. His song: When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman. comes to mind when I think of MY Special person. She's "ALL THAT". To me.

I know people who think Barry Manilow should be included in here. But! THEY don't post on these forums. (Personally, I don't like his stuff)
Even John Denver did "Annies Song" that not only made the charts, but since has been used for MANY weddings.

There's a series on British TV at the moment called 'Howard Goddall's 20th Century Greats' - A show comprised of artists Howard believes has shaped/changed music. Week 1 had The Beatles which is a grand start if you ask me!

This week it was Cole Porter - And that man wrote some very romantic stuff. I'm currently downloading "Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Cole Porter Songbook" and it's lovely stuff :)

Al Green beats all the rest, for me.... after that, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, R. Kelly, and John Lennon.

    Ah, let's see...
Jeff Buckley! He's great... Listen to Last Goodbye, oh man. So beautiful. His voice is pure romance at itself... So perfect...

Any band can be really romantic... Pink Floyd is really romantic to me because it's cuddly music. Jump Little Children (which no one has heard of =P) has songs like Body Parts that just scream out KISS ME! Stereophonics has some good love songs as well.
