Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535" on Capitol Hill. Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren. While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul's limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president. During that time, Congressman Paul served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve's inflationary measures. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice. Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles. Congressman Paul’s consistent voting record prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say, “Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are." Another colleague observed, "There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few." Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress. http://www.ronpaulexplore.com/html/AboutRon_fs.html

Why do you assume that, PRat? this is about supporting Ron Paul, and though I considerd voting for him before, I just cannot support his ecological outlook.
you'll be hard pressed to find anyone you agree with 100%. gotta sacrifice a little for someone who looks mostly hopeful.
I like Ron Paul because he dares to be different, but I'm not sure I'd want him to be president. And, if he actually runs as a Republican in their primary, the mainstream Republicans will certainly derail his candidacy quickly. He probably needs to start his own party (lol)-whatever good that would do...But he doesn't fit in with either of the major parties (as well as the Libertarians, despite the fact that he ran for president on their ticket once).
Personally, I believe that anyone who is a member of the Republican Party is a no-good evildoer terrorist enemy combatant America-trashing traitor child-molesting monster that deserves Really Bad Things to happen to them. If he was an honest man, he'd leave The Party. But "true conservatism" is deader than "liberalism." It's now just a line of bullshit held up by some Republicans to fool some people into thinking they're not the ultimate form of evil.
I was just reading about the police oppression of Rainbow Gatherings as they invoke the Patriot Act every year (Wasn't "Terrorism" supposed to be the subject of the Patriot Act, not Rainbow Gatherings?). "Feds Implement Martial Law to control and assault peaceful people at the Rainbow Gathering " http://blog.myspace.com/TheThreeShoesPosse -has videos of people giving their personal stories (More about this site below.) To all Rainbow people: Maybe we ought to consider Ron Paul as we seek ways to protect our liberty. If we don't agree with some of his views, perhaps about the environment, then maybe the democratic congress would help check some of that. There is trend toward national ID cards and a police state, etc. I think it would be better to support someone such as Ron Paul for president. He is the only candidate who focuses this subject and is opposed to the police state trend. There really is much grassroots support for him. As more people see what is happening they may vote fior him. He has a chance to win. Unfortunately his campaign managers do not seem to be doing enough, I think. from the WebSite: "They are imprisoned without charges, physically assaulted by these federal agentsl, run through mobile federal makeshift kangaroo courts to the tune of at least 600 cases per day, almost all of which end in convictions or plea deals." [the police are giving defensless people criminal records en mass to track them] "I was fortunate to meet up with two young people here in Austin whom I recognized from this years' Gathering. I interviewed them last night on "The Jeff Davis Show"..their experiences of suffering aggravated kidnapping , abuse, torture, being detained in hazardous toxic waste contaminated buildings are mind-boggling."
You want to talk about trust? I have trust issues with anyone who dances in off the street to tout someone's magical powers. And I have trust issues with anyone who shows up on a Freedom Of Speech forum and his first post is 6 paragraphs of support for a member of the GOP no matter WHO that candidate might be. Rothbardian has 8 posts, 7 of which are about Ron Paul. I smell electioneer. The last poster has 1. I smell new electioneer. PressedRat is clearly insane, but at least we know him. Good luck to you.
Yeah, but you clearly don't have a clue, or else you'd realize there is not a dime's worth of difference between the Democrat and Republican Party. You're no less of a koolaid drinker than those who vote only Republican, simply because the candidate has an R next to their name. Wake up and smell the horseshit already.
I love Ron Paul. No, he isn't perfect, but there is a HUGE difference between Ron Paul and other big name candidates like Obama and ole Rudolph... and that is that Ron Paul is FOR REAL. He actually wants a SMALL GOV'T. Can you imagine a President actually REDUCING the size of our insanely overinflated, bloated, constipated government? It would be unprecedented. That's why, if he's nominated, Ron Paul has my vote.
he also opposes the extreme measures our country has gone too to fight the drug war. he isnt saying legalize weed or anything, but the fact that he has said the war on drugs has abused our bill of rights, is a big step forward
Are y'all high (I hope so)? Dennis Kucinich is the man. Ron Paul's got some great ideas, don't get me wrong. If it comes down to a vote between him and any Democrats besides Kucinich, I'll go with Ron Paul, but if Kucinich gets in there, I'm for him. I've got an issue when it comes to Paul's stand on abortion, though at least he's for delegating the power to the states, instead of the federal government.
