You can't. If you've torn your rotator cuff, it needs to be put together again surgically.

You CANNOT avoid surgery, there's no other rehab.

Believe me, legions of powerlifters and olympic weightlifters wish that wasn't true.

Can you raise your arm higher than your shoulder?

That'll give you a good sign.

Best way - GO SEE A DOCTOR. If you haven't torn it, you need to find out FAST how damaged you are. It gets REALLY EXPENSIVE if you don't.

If you've torn or eventually tear your rotator cuff you won't be able to lift your arm, no matter how your muscles are.

IF you can raise your arm above your shoulder, chances are your cuff isn't torn.

I am NOT a doctor, do NOT play one on TV. I do know a blown cuff will prevent you from actually moving your arm.

You MAY be OK if you see a doctor now. I mean it.

Your options are to see a doctor. I'm a former powerlifter and many of my friends have had or known someone who's had that injury.

Don't mess with it. Don't deal with internet advice either. Go see a doctor, like an ACL tear this ISN'T something you can ignore and it will go away.

It does. They'll probably move your arm around, see how you feel, probably use ultrasound or other imaging to check.

    Uh, thanks :D

No, seriously, if you've got that kind of problem, I can virtually guarantee that your rotator cuff will NOT improve by itself. I do NOT want to mess you up by recommending exercises to strengthen the cuff if the cuff is compromised or torn.

The last thing ya wanna do is listen to some guy on the Internet and end up having to go under the knife. You might anyhow.... :(

Sorry the news sucks, what I can tell you is this - if it's your cuff it will NOT improve on its own.

Gotta run. Good night and good luck.
