Rothbury or Bonnaroo

I went to Bonnaroo last year and absolutely loved it. Even if a band I wasnt into was playing I still had a great time. I love all types of music and Im really open.. so I just really enjoyed myself.

Anyway, Im a little slow on the music festivals because until recently I didnt know much about Rothbury. Now that Ive read some about it I think it sounds pretty awesome.

Cause of money and all I only am hitting up one festival this summer.. Now Im torn on which it should be.

The line up for Roo is out and Im damn excited about it. However, I have no idea who is at Rothbury. Looking at last years list, they def have shit I would be way into.

I know I cant make any kind of decision until I see the lineup.. but before that even, I wanna know more about Rothbury.

Can some of you who have been to both compare the two?
Which is a better venue?
Which is just a better all around experience?

One thing that really confuses me about this.. is why would people go ahead and buy tickets to an event when they have NO idea who is going to be there?? Is there a lineup out that I just haven't seen? I'm confused. lol

 

We really do not care about the lineup... (serious) If you were at Rothbury last year... you would understand...

 

omg the roth lineup takes the win!!! they are two different experiences, and i missed out on roth last year, and the roo lineup doesn't come close to the roth lineup....if you want my advice, which i guarantee is good hit up rothbury if you can!!!

Haha, yea.. I saw the list and I agree! I did LOVE bonnaroo so Im not dissing it.. but Im going to Roth this year for sure. Gah Im so damn excited.

 

heh, damn...thats fucked up. choosing between bonnaroo and rothbury.....the dead or phish......chromeo or mgmt.....oh well, i think bonnaroo has a better lineup and i already got my ticket to that so ill be in tennesee this summer.

 

mgmt is sick, id pick them over chromeo any day...but i gotta experience that magical forest!!! plus im ok with all the electronic stuff goin on at rothbury!! and claypool and cheese god im just excited...but enjoy roo man!!

 

yep its official im skippin out on college this summer so i can go to rothbury. i will see all you cool cats there!

Edit: this is my 999th post, and ive been waiting for this day so ima take this as a good sign...hopefully one day soon ill be able to say "Rothbury here I come" with a true feeling of certainty

well i noticed now that simon posford (shpongle) is gonna be at rothbury....heh, that i think makes rothburys lineup 1000 times better.....tripping in a forest with thousands of people while listening to shpongle and hallucinogen? that would be the most amazing experience......i really envy you people heh


bonnaroo needs a solid electronic artist though. at least one. since rothbury gets shpongle, i think bonnaroo should get entheogenic....not as good as shpongle, but still amazing.

 

One word : Phish

Ill be at tennessee, i mean string cheese is terrible compared to phish, the dead doesnt have jerry, and from what ive heard bob dylan is not too good no more, and im not really into electronic shit besides the lotus

 

i, for one, haven't gotten hard into phish...slowly tho (took me awhile with the dead too, but now i love em)...

I love SCI!! I am so excited...i feel you about the Dead not being the whole band...and totally know what you mean abuot Dylan...but I am so stoked about the rest of the line up...plus id love to see the surviving memebers of the dead to judge for myself.
