this song was done by the Rolling Stones in 1966 or 1967 and covered by Melanie Safka in 1970. the Melanie Safka version is definately much better in my opinion, more 70's sounding.

I wonder what happened to Melanie Safka. She is very similar to Janis Joplin, in her voice and style.

 

thats probably why she wasn't around for much longer.

I saw Melanie in Amsterdam in April 2003. She still puts on a good live show.

Melanie's version of Ruby Tuesday is very good. The Rolling Stones original version is still the best in my opinion.

 

i think the rolling stones version is boring campared to melanie's
