Rude people on buses and trains

I was on the train last night at about 8:30. This guy was sitting across from me with this little wind up torch, winding it up with a wrrr wrrr wrrr wrrr wrrr. I was getting sooooo pissed off. He had this cigarette dangling from his mouth and looked completely wasted

I shared a few glances with people around me. They looked pissed off too.

I was almost about to say something (at least thats what I like to believe) when he got up to get off.

Once he'd left I said to the other people, "Was that annoying anyone else?"

And they're like, "Yeah."

And I'm like, "Why don't we say anything?"

And they were pretty much stuck for answers and looked uncomforable.

The main reason I didn't say anything was because I was afraid no-one would stick up for me, and that he would get angry.

Why are people rude on public transport?
Do you put up with that kind of shit?
What should I have done?

 

Was this an above-ground train or more like a subway?

It kind of does, I think. Underground, things get on my nerves a little bit more.

To answer your question, if I get the sense that someone is doing something to deliberately annoy people, I move cars. Most times I'll tolerate it.

i had to take the bus a lot to get to class everday...and ive encountered some strange things similar to what you said. i hardly bother to say anything because usually it's pretty damn entertaining. lol

i don`t know what you should have done, but usually when something like that happens to me i just stalk straight into them with a very evil, intense eye and wait to see what happens. most of the times nothing happens, because i have very evil stare when i want to (no joking) , but if they dare to say something i let loose my evil tongue and then see what happens.
