Great article! Thanks. I run both with running shoes and barefoot. I get less knee and hip discomfort when running barefoot and I am able to run further before becoming fatigued. My primary reasons for wearing running shoes are temperature extremes and running along a road with heavy traffic that might suddenly force me onto a shoulder and I won't have had the opportunity to look and make sure there are no sharp pieces of metal where I will be stepping.

The article suggests trying running in 5 Fingers (StraightToes will be in his element) but I am not able to do this in mine because occasionally one of the toe pockets comes off.
