If we bring back festivals and make them arge then we can find a good use for the evil media. We can get people to participate, see what we stand for, let them know we are still here. Come on we can stand strong, we must or we will have to live in the shadows forever. Let's show the nation that we want peace, nay...we demand peace now. We can do it, you know it, i know it, so what's stopping us. We would have fun and people could change, if they know they are not alone. Maybe some hippies who are in hiding will come out. Is anybody with me? We need to do something, we can not live our whole lives like this...hiding. We can bring the nation to its knees. Please, this is our time....we need to shine.
Eric Cartman is the head of the anti hippie coilition.. DIE HIPPIE..... DIE.........South Park Episode #902 check it out young one...
why , it's not at all obvious that the music died . so unplug and gather high in wyoming mid-june . grampa woodstock will be there too .
the 60s and early 70s were a clarion call for an awakening of the human spirit and it is still ongoing. welcome to HipForums blubird.
well we can have the same principles and mentality as hippies, but a concert isn't going to change anything, there are plently of jamband/hippie festivals in summer but its not changing anything, it's just to have a good time. if you want a revolution, you have to start from the ground up, organize people that aren't just hippies, hippies was a thing in the past, its time to start getting over it and trying for something new and different.
like what? What do you suggest we do then? I don't necessarily want a revolution (although that would be nice), but i do want to open the worlds eyes, to not only hippies, but to peace. How do you suggest we try to convince the world to stop what is going on in Darfur, or even the fact that we are in a war. What do we do? i will do anything for the poor people who are suffering.
how about consume less oil for one? i heard a statistic tonight that's a case in point. if the fleet average mileage was 45 mpg in the US we wouldn't need MidEast oil and we sure as hell wouldn't be in a war in Iraq. you can get invloved in the political machine as distasteful as that may be to some, it is a place to be heard and if there are enough people of your mind, to make changes. get informed and tell everyone you know what's going on, raise consciousness. most of all have hope that things can and will change for the better.
well first we need to fix our country, its not our responsibility to stop whats going on in darfur, we live in america. which is why i don't agree with the current war with us and the war with vietnam, we shouldn't stick our noses where it doesnt belong.
Very good post from all so far. I'm pleased to hear that the spirit of the 60's, the Woodstock generation, my generation, is still alive with us in this day and age. You young people of today, it's your turn! We need more hippies in this country, not less. People who think for themselves and use common sense in their approach towards life and their worldview. Peace stev90
there are rumours of another woodstock happening (on wikipedia no less). the website http://www.woodstock.com/ looks pretty serious though. however, I agree. for it to work we would need a shift in our generation just so we could have suitable musicians play. look at the music we have now - the strokes, kings of leon, foo fighters etc all brilliant music but does it really actually say anything like the likes of CCR, The Who and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young? No way! It is a thing which we have to fix in our own generation first - stop people singing about themselves, get them to open their own eyes and sing about that. Now Im not saying it cant be done - weve already got the likes of Faithless, Rage and Manu Chao on our sides. but to make it worthwhile we would need everyone, not just hippies to come. and that means a change in my generations music. but change always starts at home...check out my band dead liberty...
Another woodstock would not happen we live in a different time.. back then they had a reason for woodstock. (vietnam) theres nothing to fight for now a days accept maybe iraq but thats nothing like vietnam.
